[00:16:02] In hell, quite the fool you fell
[00:16:05] Rules you play by safe, but they won't help
[00:16:10] Help, be honest with yourself
[00:16:12] And may hit me with a bit of love, baby
[00:16:16] Make sure that it hurts, I want to feel the blood
[00:16:20] Oh, there's all these theories that is us, baby
[00:16:24] Maybe I should pop a badge
[00:16:26] And start love with us

[00:16:30] It's not like you aren't trying
[00:16:32] It makes you sad that I feel so trapped
[00:16:36] I get a real bad rep
[00:16:38] But look at what's in store
[00:16:40] Don't waste your life away
[00:16:42] Be right for us
[00:16:44] I am the centerpiece
[00:16:46] My life breaks into pieces
[00:16:48] Turn up when you're at my feet
[00:16:50] Love me right and I'll tell you three
[00:16:52] I feel the heat, like a sweet release
[00:16:55] Plano from hell's not discreet, punishment is our speciality
[00:16:59] Have the energy with a bit of love, baby
[00:17:02] Be sure that it hurts, I want to feel it burn
[00:17:06] All please, all please, your respect is us
[00:17:10] Baby, I should probably rest, cause I'm the other one
[00:17:17] You know, immediate dissent in the sinners
[00:17:20] Coins and decisions, she'd go follow the leader
[00:17:23] Go see where you can see us
[00:17:25] Our nations, their nations
[00:17:27] You're chasing Halo's wrath
[00:17:29] You're tired of trying to be who you know you are
[00:17:33] We're all seeds, like that's why we're in hell
[00:17:38] Like dear souls, let's not waste time
[00:17:42] We're too deep to dwell
[00:17:45] Hey, can you see what I'm doing?
[00:17:48] Yeah, yeah, yeah, baby, we're the big of love, baby
[00:17:51] Make sure that it lasts, I want to feel it burn
[00:17:55] Oh please, oh please, your respect is for us, baby
[00:17:59] Let your battle burst, cause I'm the other way
[00:18:03] I have to be, I have to be, all I do is hide me
[00:18:06] I'm a machine, I'm a horse, I want to feel it burn
[00:18:10] I feel it's right, please, oh, you're a machine, I'm a horse
[00:18:14] I'll let you have the best
[00:18:16] And start me from the west
[00:18:22] How comforting that people like you never change
[00:18:26] You are the lens of something to catch and gaze
[00:18:30] Combine under the pressure
[00:18:32] Don't you just love obsession
[00:18:34] You still go best my pleasure

[00:18:45] You'd be so lovely
[00:18:50] It's never enough for me
[00:18:53] The passion, passion, a pain, hanging on the power
[00:18:56] We hold over your mind, over your body
[00:18:59] And just so you know it's all
[00:19:01] If you're looking to impress, entertain, or be of use
[00:19:05] Then prove your care as much as you say you do
[00:19:08] I want you by and by me, I want you
[00:19:11] I want you I want you everywhere I want you fighting for me
[00:19:18] And when you on the way, way, way, way, way

[00:19:30] Cry for me
[00:19:34] Cry for me
[00:19:38] Cry for me
[00:19:39] Don't worry, leave those tears, come off your cheek, it's clear
[00:19:43] Stay on my serenity, with independence obsolete
[00:19:47] Watch it at three, feel enough fear from your front row seat
[00:19:50] But in your brain, how entertaining, though so desperate, share the please
[00:19:54] Are all a cornerstone in worship
[00:19:57] Is all I want, is that much to ask that I know it's not
[00:20:02] Don't you want to give up your life
[00:20:05] You're my zone, love, love, love
[00:20:09] Baby, so baby, choose your side

[00:23:27] The battle's starting soon, and there's a surprise!
[00:23:31] What could the surprise be?
[00:23:37] What could the special surprise be?
[00:23:41] Why are you looking at me like that?

[00:24:17] What if I took off my V2 model and there was another V2 model in there?
[00:24:23] This whole time!
[00:24:24] You should have known!
[00:24:26] You sure know I'm pregnant!

[00:26:33] It'd think if you did a face reveal you'd remove the V-Tuber just to show another V-Tuber,
[00:26:37] but then you reveal it's a mouse tuber, and then you reveal again a brand new iron
[00:26:42] mouse model.
[00:26:43] What if, what if I reveal again and then it's just a cat in front of a, uh, in

[00:36:28] I'm nervous.
[00:36:29] A lot of our warriors of light and audience probably have an emotional support is thinien.
[00:36:31] I've talked to Koji and he is so funny.
[00:36:35] I feel so much better now.
[00:36:36] He is so funny.

[00:36:45] Hey!
[00:36:46] Yay!
[00:36:47] We're seeing you.
[00:36:48] That's tough.
[00:36:49] We met him yesterday.
[00:36:51] Oh yeah.
[00:36:52] Yeah.
[00:36:53] It is so, so professional.
[00:36:56] Only the best stock footage and PowerPoint slide templates
[00:37:00] This presentation
[00:37:02] You know, it's really funny because yeah, we met him after the key
[00:37:07] No, just hard work and design and animation
[00:37:14] You know, he's not working now let him enjoy the the fanfare. All right, super fancy. We have a lot of stuff today
[00:37:21] Are we gonna have to kind of power through this?
[00:37:24] so
[00:37:26] I would do our point and get it.
[00:37:28] With a small recap of who I am for new players who don't know,
[00:37:31] for the older players who maybe have forgotten.
[00:37:33] And if you haven't forgotten me, I love you.
[00:37:36] Thanks.
[00:37:37] I love you!
[00:37:38] Oh my god, I got a pick!
[00:37:39] You got a pick, I think!
[00:37:40] My name is Michael Christopher,
[00:37:41] I've been with Square Enix since the day it became Square Enix.
[00:37:45] So that puts me at about 23 years now.
[00:37:48] 23 years?
[00:37:51] A lot of companies, you know, when you're there for 10 years
[00:37:54] 20 years, they give you like these special gifts. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, on our side, every
[00:38:00] milestone, I think we get like increasingly larger crystal trophies. I got my own confidential stamp
[00:38:07] that I can now stamp things to make them confidential. So I got
[00:38:12] corporates like, you're important, you get a confidential stamp and I got a confidential
[00:38:16] stamp and I used it on my little thing. That's, that's really, oh my god. Hey,
[00:38:20] It's a crystal. My past projects include Final Fantasy XI, which I started on. That was my first project.
[00:38:29] I've done Final Fantasy XVI. In between I did a bunch of other cool stuff like Durgers' Cerberus, Final Fantasy Adventure, and then others as well, lots of fun.
[00:38:46] But yeah, I joined Final Fantasy XIII and I'm going to say it's probably 2008 or 2009.
[00:38:52] I was still on 11 and slid over 214.
[00:38:55] I'm not 100% positive, but I was one of the two English localizers on that.
[00:39:00] I stayed with the team during the rebounds like a million years ago, and I was either
[00:39:03] like team lead or Ian localization director and I mean, nobody knows the director,
[00:39:09] supervising director guy, all the way up through shadow bringers.
[00:39:14] which time I kind of transitioned over to 16. I remained as a supervisory role on 14.
[00:39:21] But now, I'm kind of back on 14 again in that supervisory role. But most of the day-to-day
[00:39:27] operations is done by the great team that we have over there headed up by Paul.
[00:39:34] You can meet here in the recent trash taste video that we just did.
[00:39:38] Yeah.
[00:39:38] That's the one video you should watch.
[00:39:39] Check it out.
[00:39:40] Oh yeah, that's right. You were going trash taste.
[00:39:41] Oh yeah, I haven't even seen them yet. I want to check it out.
[00:39:44] Yeah, and during my time on 14, I've been responsible for stuff like changing a god from a single aspect to dual aspect so I could use the name thal for thal's balls.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:57] Thal's balls!
[00:39:59] I love how that's like your main claim to fame.
[00:40:03] That's my main, I mean other like translation.
[00:40:05] Whatever.
[00:40:06] Thal's balls.
[00:40:07] That's my cynical of my achievements on force.
[00:40:09] Thal's balls.
[00:40:10] of the bad puns which my team you know they they continue to embrace to this day so the bad puns
[00:40:16] yes it's all about the puns all about the groans right yes wow look at all the oh my god look at all
[00:40:23] the people there what's going on right ryanje's stodgy linguistic quirks um back in the day i was
[00:40:30] convinced he was gonna die dala was just gonna fall and he would no longer be with us but now
[00:40:36] How is it every freaking cut scene?
[00:40:38] Yeah.
[00:40:40] So it is such a memory.
[00:40:40] I don't know what, no way.
[00:40:42] I know it.
[00:40:43] It's on.
[00:40:45] Also, there's the curious case of Starbird and Larbird.
[00:40:47] So any of you familiar with this,
[00:40:50] you can type fucojifox into Google,
[00:40:52] and you can learn all about it.
[00:40:55] And I'm also responsive for a good deal of the lyrics,
[00:40:59] which appear in Square Enix games.
[00:41:01] So yeah, that's kind of like the main focus
[00:41:03] of our panel here, right?
[00:41:05] So I decided to dive into it.
[00:41:07] But, you know, before joining us.
[00:41:09] Hey, nobody knows what that is.
[00:41:11] It's not me, Tuber.
[00:41:11] Were you involved in music, the industry?
[00:41:14] Or were you like, you know, at home, you know,
[00:41:16] just jamming out?
[00:41:17] I was a band nerd in high school.
[00:41:19] I was in marching band.
[00:41:20] A man after my whole own heart, a band nerd.
[00:41:24] He was in marching band?
[00:41:25] My brother is actually a professional DJ.
[00:41:28] Wait, that is, I don't know, Sherwin.
[00:41:29] What the?
[00:41:30] DJ plus one.
[00:41:31] Wait, did he just say break dancing tournament?
[00:41:34] My work in music has pretty much been limited to Square Enix yeah, so so far
[00:41:39] I've had the honor absolute honor to work on of course Final Fantasy 14, but also Final Fantasy 11
[00:41:47] Distant Worlds
[00:41:52] And of course Final Fantasy 16
[00:42:00] I also worked on foam stars
[00:42:02] It turns out that the director of the of foam stars on the project his name is
[00:42:13] I don't know he is a hardcore warrior of light
[00:42:16] He comes to the primalist concerts on his own that's awesome
[00:42:21] He doesn't ask for free tickets and so one day he's like I'm making this new game
[00:42:25] I would love it if you wrote the lyrics for the theme song like yeah
[00:42:29] We'll happen and we'll happen to foam stars. Then he liked the theme song
[00:42:32] He's like hey, can you write all the other songs and ended up doing 18 songs for foam stars seed songs?
[00:42:39] And it was like
[00:42:41] It was like all these different homes is like Koji just do what you want
[00:42:45] You can write whatever you want and so
[00:42:49] There are songs about bubbles. There's a song about taking a shower. Oh
[00:42:53] Oh, we need that song for you.
[00:42:56] Is this Lucky Charms?
[00:42:57] Can't say.
[00:42:58] It's Serial.
[00:42:59] A song about Gilear industry.
[00:43:00] A song about Serial?
[00:43:01] A song about Marshmallow.
[00:43:02] Marshmallow.
[00:43:03] Marshmallow.
[00:43:04] Breakfast flavored.
[00:43:05] Breakfast flavored.
[00:43:06] Yeah, there is a song about partying in the club.
[00:43:11] There's one about taking a vacation to Burkina Faso.
[00:43:13] Of course.
[00:43:14] She probably shouldn't do it right now because it's pretty dangerous.
[00:43:16] Okay, yeah.
[00:43:17] What?
[00:43:18] TGI Freyay.
[00:43:19] There's an inspirational song.
[00:43:20] TGI Freyay?
[00:43:21] Malt liquor well he can make a song about anything of the world world first
[00:43:26] non-stop like the suds on my 40 always rising to the top in the no now or
[00:43:31] never never venture never win let's believe in yourself before you can begin
[00:43:37] wow
[00:43:41] amazing he probably said that amazing you're Malt liquor first of all I mean
[00:43:47] that honestly yeah cheerleena needs a song so bad uh it sounds kind of a
[00:43:51] motivational kind of like you know I got you covered that motivational like the
[00:43:56] suds on my 40
[00:43:59] yes I always have to say this every single fan festival I did some work
[00:44:05] coded commanders there's one person one person I also recently got to do the
[00:44:16] The ring introduction for Kenny Omega, Jason Charles Miller, holy crap, that was amazing.
[00:44:24] And then of course the most important project of my career, Mario.
[00:44:30] And that was a much louder cheer than I was expecting for just one introduction.
[00:44:40] Is that the actual logo of Mario Hoops 3 on 3?
[00:44:43] It is a logo.
[00:44:46] One that won't get us sued by Nintendo.
[00:44:48] Oh, I see.
[00:44:49] As you heard, we have the same view for a different amount of stuff, we have to be careful.
[00:44:54] But anyway, it was on this project that my wonderfully wacky relationship with Soken
[00:45:01] would begin.
[00:45:02] Oh my god.
[00:45:03] It all comes back from Mario, bro.
[00:45:07] What a project to start with.
[00:45:09] Yes.
[00:45:10] It was probably around 2006.
[00:45:13] I had already kind of worked with Soak-N on Mario,
[00:45:15] who's having, they asked me to write the battle lines
[00:45:18] for the three Square Enix characters.
[00:45:20] So you can play as all the Nintendo characters,
[00:45:22] but at the end you can unlock the ninja
[00:45:25] and the black mage and the white mage.
[00:45:26] So they wanted me to write the battle lines,
[00:45:29] like, who, and her, magic, from a tree.
[00:45:33] Yeah, and then they're like,
[00:45:35] oh, we don't have any money on this project.
[00:45:37] Can you voice the ninja and the black mage?
[00:45:39] So I got to voice the ninja and the black man.
[00:45:42] Wow.
[00:45:43] Three on three.
[00:45:44] And I thought that was it.
[00:45:45] But then like a week or so later,
[00:45:47] I get this mail from Sokan.
[00:45:49] And he's like, oh, Koji, can you come back in the studio?
[00:45:51] We're making the music for it now.
[00:45:53] And we're having someone sing like Mario.
[00:45:58] And I want you to check the pronunciation of Mario.
[00:46:00] I'm like, do you need me to check the pronunciation of Mario?
[00:46:02] But OK.
[00:46:03] I was like, how affectionous that Sokan is.
[00:46:05] So I went to the studio.
[00:46:07] And he's like, yeah, so is me.
[00:46:09] That's good.
[00:46:09] I've been like, Mario!
[00:46:11] And I'm ready to go back to my Mario.
[00:46:13] Wait a minute.
[00:46:13] While you're here, Koji, can you do a rap for the song?
[00:46:18] And I'm like, OK, give me a couple of days,
[00:46:21] and I'll come up with a rap.
[00:46:22] And I'm like, no, I want you to do it now.
[00:46:24] Oh my god!
[00:46:25] What?
[00:46:26] Get in the studio.
[00:46:26] And so like five minutes later, I was in the studio.
[00:46:28] Chad, what the hell do you imagine?
[00:46:30] You get called.
[00:46:31] And you're like, we need you to do a rap right now.
[00:46:33] And then that got put in the game.
[00:46:35] So that's the whole thing.
[00:46:38] We need to do a rap right now.
[00:46:39] Yeah, apparently.
[00:46:40] I mean, we always hear Soken complaining about, you know,
[00:46:42] he's so silent now.
[00:46:44] He's remixing and changing things to the last minute.
[00:46:47] I guess it started.
[00:46:48] I mean, even a star back is Mario Hoops 3 on 3.
[00:46:51] That's how it is.
[00:46:52] But everyone, I'm sure, probably wants to hear this.
[00:46:55] You have to have.
[00:46:56] So I have brought a clip of me singing on Mario Hoops 3
[00:47:00] in 3.
[00:47:01] OK, that clip.
[00:47:02] I'm not going to risk a cease and desist, but if you'd like to hear more, I'm sure
[00:47:21] everyone will find a way by purchasing Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and playing through the game
[00:47:26] and getting to the end credits.
[00:47:28] so you can hear their rap because there are no other ways to hear that song.
[00:47:32] No, not at all.
[00:47:33] You probably can't hear them again.
[00:47:35] Nintendo, we love you.
[00:47:36] Thank you.
[00:47:36] Thank you.
[00:47:37] Thank you.
[00:47:37] Oh, my God, he's such a cool.
[00:47:38] All right.
[00:47:39] We will be protecting the arts.
[00:47:41] So after Mario Hoops three on three there, I joined the Final Fantasy 14 team.
[00:47:45] I got to work with William Hudson on the theme answers.
[00:47:48] Yeah.
[00:47:49] Absolutely amazing answers and then, you know, we we had a rough launch, let's
[00:47:56] say a rough a rough.
[00:47:58] I'm a minor spelling error.
[00:48:01] The song comes in to write the ship.
[00:48:03] And who would you know joins the team at the same time so can.
[00:48:07] Yes.
[00:48:07] And then he takes the torch trimmery Muts on.
[00:48:11] And then he starts making his magic.
[00:48:12] And then all of a sudden, again, I get this mail in my inbox.
[00:48:15] It's like, hey, Koji, I'm writing this epic raid song.
[00:48:18] And I remember your lyrical prowess from Mario 3 on 3.
[00:48:22] 3 on 3, yes.
[00:48:23] So would you write the lyrics for this raid and that raid would end up turning out to be good
[00:48:34] And so of course
[00:48:47] So it's never the end
[00:48:49] A couple days later, he's like, oh yeah, guess what?
[00:48:52] We don't have budget again.
[00:48:54] Can you sing the song, Koji?
[00:48:56] And I'm like, okay, don't worry about it.
[00:48:59] Bro, they keep putting you on the spot with everything.
[00:49:01] So again, it's favorite word.
[00:49:03] Well, you use the power of science
[00:49:04] to make sure that your voice is pitched
[00:49:06] and there'll be effects on it.
[00:49:07] No one will know it's you.
[00:49:10] And so there were five moogles in the song.
[00:49:13] And so I ended up doing four of the voices.
[00:49:15] One other, like a female moogle we had somebody else do.
[00:49:18] And, uh, yeah, and so this is what it ended up sounding like. Play the next clip, please.
[00:49:34] This is not me.
[00:49:38] What?
[00:49:40] Pickle my feet!
[00:49:41] What a performer bro, what a performer.
[00:49:53] But yeah, it ended up being well received.
[00:49:56] It was well received.
[00:49:57] That's right.
[00:49:58] And then so come ARR, so it ends like, hey, let's do even more.
[00:50:01] And so I ended up doing like Titan, writing the lyrics for Ramu, Garuda, Leviathan,
[00:50:06] then on to Heaven's Word, it's like Alexander, Ravana, and more.
[00:50:09] I
[00:50:12] Again so can't like don't worry. Don't worry power of science power of science
[00:50:16] No one will know it's you and then he has this fucking great idea to be like, oh, hey
[00:50:21] Let's do them on stage and like then don't know it does
[00:50:24] Me oh my god rest is history. So yeah
[00:50:29] I'm gonna today is a lyrics panel. So we're gonna talk about the process that we go through when writing the lyrics
[00:50:35] I don't think anybody's prepared
[00:50:39] It's a long, it's a long process and what I'm going to show you here is basically kind of a kind of outline.
[00:50:46] Oh, he goes, I care, he's done gold.
[00:50:49] But I'm going to kind of go worse one a little bit because I want to talk a lot about, you know,
[00:50:54] We are not prepared.
[00:50:55] Before that and after that, there's a lot of other stuff that goes on.
[00:50:57] So I want to talk about that first.
[00:50:59] So it all starts off with the dev team kind of deciding that they want a new song.
[00:51:03] And the first thing they do is the scenario team will come up with this order that they ask,
[00:51:10] like, okay, we have the work request.
[00:51:11] Yeah, that's an order.
[00:51:12] It's coming from each call, so it's an order.
[00:51:14] And then they're like, we have this new content coming up.
[00:51:18] We want this type of music.
[00:51:19] Here's like the theme you want.
[00:51:20] And they send that to Sound.
[00:51:22] And then from there, the Sound team will take that and they'll do their own research
[00:51:26] and gameplay to make sure that what they're creating matches the content.
[00:51:30] So can is kind of infamous in the dev team for always submitting his songs really late in the dev cycle and that's not because he's lazier or slow. I mean, I don't think he's.
[00:51:39] I don't think he's.
[00:51:42] Greatness takes time.
[00:51:43] The thing is, it's late because for him, he likes to make sure that he knows 100% of the content before he writes the song.
[00:51:51] He wants to make sure that the user experience is going to be great.
[00:51:54] So he wants the music to feel like it was written for the content rather than having the music first and then content later.
[00:52:02] And because of that, the music requests can come pretty late in the cycle.
[00:52:06] That's why he's the goal!
[00:52:08] And then again, if the dev team has specifically stated that they want lyrics in a song, then we'll have that.
[00:52:15] But usually it's Soken that decides whether he wants to have lyrics in the song or not.
[00:52:19] Then from there, it's sent back to the dev team once the Soken has created the music and the instrumental.
[00:52:25] It's sent back to the team. They give their feedback. Yeah, we like this.
[00:52:28] And then once that has been decided, then the writer in charge of the content will be like, okay, we need lyrics.
[00:52:34] So he writes up or she writes up a content doc.
[00:52:38] I always like Final Fantasy music because it's like sample lyrics in it.
[00:52:41] I don't know. The song, like, it goes beyond the lyrics.
[00:52:46] So the whole family conveys such feelings.
[00:52:48] For a singer.
[00:52:50] Sometimes Soken will use me or himself.
[00:52:53] Other times it'll be like Jason Charles Miller,
[00:52:55] Amanda Aiken, or maybe a different singer.
[00:52:57] The process can take a long time depending on who it is.
[00:53:00] So we usually start it about here
[00:53:02] and they'll be working on it in the background
[00:53:04] while we're doing all of the other stuff.
[00:53:06] As such, a lot of times I don't know who's gonna be
[00:53:09] singing the songs that I'm writing the lyrics for sometimes.
[00:53:11] So that's kind of weird.
[00:53:13] And then once we have that,
[00:53:14] then the official request for lyrics comes to the LOPE team.
[00:53:17] And then we begin writing.
[00:53:19] This is a process in itself,
[00:53:20] so I'm gonna talk a little bit about this more in detail later.
[00:53:24] After the lyrics are done then,
[00:53:25] we do an internal check.
[00:53:26] Oh my God, so let's elect this here before the hearing.
[00:53:29] And spellings and whatnot.
[00:53:31] Is that done inside localization?
[00:53:32] Interesting.
[00:53:33] Then we attach a rough Japanese translation of our lyrics
[00:53:37] and then send it back to scenario team.
[00:53:38] And then they check what we've written
[00:53:40] and then they give us approval.
[00:53:41] They also do content and ethics checks here.
[00:53:44] Ethics.
[00:53:45] So in Japanese, we call it the bean-de-check,
[00:53:48] which translates to ethics or morality check.
[00:53:51] But this isn't really something hardcore.
[00:53:52] It's mostly like there's certain Japanese cultural standards
[00:53:56] they have.
[00:53:56] For example, we're not supposed to be disparaging
[00:54:00] individuals with handicaps.
[00:54:01] I mean, you shouldn't be doing that anyway.
[00:54:03] But certain terms like blind can kind of end up
[00:54:07] being flagged by the Japanese team.
[00:54:09] And you can ask them.
[00:54:10] And they'll have to come in and say, no, no.
[00:54:11] blinded by light. It doesn't mean actual blindness. It's just this. And then, you know, explaining
[00:54:16] things like that to make sure that we're on up and up with that.
[00:54:19] Wow, I did not know that. And then after that, this is usually when we fix the title. And a lot
[00:54:25] of times it'll be me saying something like, okay, the lyrics say forge ahead, forge ahead.
[00:54:31] And it's relaying the core message of moving on and forging ahead. So how about we call the
[00:54:36] song for and no no no we're just going to go with endwalker. Okay, and while I don't do this every
[00:54:51] time a lot of times I'll create a sample version with me singing to give it to Soken so he knows
[00:54:56] how I think that the lyrics will fit onto the melody. I love hearing sample stuff from people.
[00:55:01] In rare instances, he has just taken that file and used it in the game.
[00:55:06] Oh!
[00:55:07] Oh no!
[00:55:08] So like, I usually do this on my phone, because it's just supposed to be a sample.
[00:55:12] And this happened with the redstone block.
[00:55:15] So I'm like, I was just like, okay, here's the lyrics.
[00:55:23] Oh my god, he would.
[00:55:25] And so, and then like two days later, it's like, we're done.
[00:55:27] And like, aren't we gonna record?
[00:55:28] It's like, no, you're good Koji.
[00:55:30] I already got it.
[00:55:30] Oh my god!
[00:55:32] Can you record it on the spot?
[00:55:35] Thanks, Soken, power of science!
[00:55:38] I wouldn't try it.
[00:55:41] Yeah, if I had known.
[00:55:43] Oh my god!
[00:55:45] Right, and then so after that, Soken will again look at the music, this sample that I've given to him
[00:55:51] and then he'll maybe ask me to tweak things back if it doesn't fit the rhythm like mine.
[00:55:56] I mean then once sound is approved the lyrics it's a matter of waiting until recording
[00:56:01] I usually have a little bit of time here where I can go back and brush up the lyrics
[00:56:06] Tweaking wordings for you know for better flow then sometimes if someone outside the company is singing will create some sheet music
[00:56:13] For them to use during recording, but so can really doesn't like sheet music a lot
[00:56:16] So it's a lot of times he doesn't create this and it's just like listen to it. You'll get it
[00:56:21] Okay, we'll figure it out.
[00:56:23] Interesting.
[00:56:24] And then finally we go in to record.
[00:56:27] A lot of times this is done in Square Enix
[00:56:29] in-house studio in Shinjuku.
[00:56:31] Sometimes we do it at remote studios in Tokyo.
[00:56:34] Other times we get artists who are like really far away.
[00:56:37] They'll record in studios near where they are
[00:56:39] and then they'll send the files to us
[00:56:41] and then they'll do all the mixing on their end
[00:56:44] and those mixing is done again in the studio in Japan.
[00:56:47] And then the data is implemented into the game, and finally, YoshiP does his final check.
[00:56:56] And most of the time, this is like, oh yeah, that was great. No problem.
[00:56:59] But there have been a few times where he has demanded last minute changes
[00:57:03] because he's YoshiP, he's going to demand those last minute changes.
[00:57:06] The most notorious one was, I think, back in the day, Leviathan, was originally sung, had female vocals in Leviathan.
[00:57:13] And it was all done. It was great. The file was ready. It's like literally one day before
[00:57:19] Implementing the data and and Yoshi's like no it should be male vocals
[00:57:22] Oh my god, and so ended up being so Ken had to sing it because he literally only had one day to do it
[00:57:29] So now so Ken's vocals are the enemy. It's a great version. Yeah, exactly
[00:57:33] But the original version was also kind of great
[00:57:35] Yeah, Yoshi people say no
[00:57:35] They actually put it on one of the older albums as a bonus track so you can actually hear the verse
[00:57:39] So if you haven't heard it yet, it's amazing
[00:57:41] It's completely different kind of feel to it, but wow, thanks, Yoshi P
[00:57:45] and then once Yoshi P has
[00:57:48] Signed off on the song the song is fixed and as course as soon as the song is fixed
[00:57:54] I start finding all these things I want to change
[00:57:58] I'm mad after my own heart. I'm the same way
[00:58:02] No, right it's live people are playing and there are these
[00:58:08] Social
[00:58:11] Yes.
[00:58:12] It happens to me all the time.
[00:58:14] That entire process, I kind of want to go back and take a closer look at the actual writing
[00:58:18] of the lyrics.
[00:58:19] So this is kind of my involvement in this.
[00:58:21] That all starts with what I talked about, that instrumental guide.
[00:58:23] You get the instrumental guide first, and sound team usually still can't prepare this
[00:58:28] for us.
[00:58:29] We start with an instrumental version of the track, probably about 80 to 90% complete,
[00:58:34] and he has the melody included, which I'm supposed to use for reference to writing
[00:58:38] the lyrics.
[00:58:39] the song will still receive like constant updates till change instruments and tweak structure, but usually at this point the melody is like 100%
[00:58:45] It's like you're good to go, you're good to go, and then I listen to that, and then they base the lyrics off of that.
[00:58:50] So for example, this is a sample of what I received, the file that I received for the song that would eventually become unbending steel, so the Ravana theme.
[00:58:59] This is what you said.
[00:59:09] God, he's so talented, bro.
[00:59:13] Okay.
[00:59:14] So, yeah.
[00:59:15] As you heard there, there was that piano melody.
[00:59:16] That is the melody.
[00:59:17] He has vision.
[00:59:18] That's going to be the vocal melody.
[00:59:19] So, I'm supposed to take that.
[00:59:20] I hear that, and then I'm based my lyrics off of that.
[00:59:23] That makes sense, but I don't remember there being any kind of piano or...
[00:59:30] Well, I mean, there isn't a piano part in it.
[00:59:33] And the problem is though, is that song, if you listen to it, it sounds like it
[00:59:38] has a piano.
[00:59:39] Yeah, it could have a piano in it anyway.
[00:59:40] That's a little familiar, right?
[00:59:41] And so the problem is, is that I would get songs with this piano melody, and assume it
[00:59:47] was the melody, but then we get something like this song.
[00:59:50] So play the next thing.
[01:00:00] Oh my god.
[01:00:05] Okay.
[01:00:06] So yes, it's a piano.
[01:00:08] So the Ravonna one I got, it's a piano, right?
[01:00:12] Right.
[01:00:14] And so I get this one, it's a piano, right?
[01:00:16] Right.
[01:00:17] And I'm like, oh, so that's the melody.
[01:00:19] And I write lyrics for that melody.
[01:00:22] And I wrote a shitload of lyrics.
[01:00:25] A lot of lyrics.
[01:00:26] Wow.
[01:00:26] I see that.
[01:00:27] And you know, I was ready for this to be the lyrics.
[01:00:29] So I played the tip again.
[01:00:32] When I fallin back in a calling back
[01:00:40] I am on a urge
[01:00:47] You're calling back I'm cheating
[01:00:49] and I's falling back in a calling back
[01:00:53] okay you can stop guys
[01:00:58] If you don't want to get i'm too excited
[01:00:59] So yeah
[01:01:00] And I was like, I did it.
[01:01:02] And of course, I sent it to Soken.
[01:01:03] It's like, no, no, that's not the melody.
[01:01:06] Oh, God.
[01:01:07] Sorry.
[01:01:09] And then the next day, he sends me the actual melody.
[01:01:12] I'm like, oh, OK.
[01:01:13] And so all of this is literally never made it into the song
[01:01:16] because Soken and his piano.
[01:01:18] But if you look at these lyrics in locust towards the end
[01:01:23] of the song, there's a part that's like falling back
[01:01:25] right into the system.
[01:01:27] Yeah, falling back.
[01:01:29] That was basically based off this first part that's talking about coming back and falling back and this would
[01:01:36] That end part would play off of this. Okay, but I know so it's just like no
[01:01:42] Remain in
[01:01:43] Sad cheer. Yeah, maybe something like during a primalist concert. I'm just gonna start singing this
[01:01:51] It's your fault so can forgiving me that piano melody I wrote that to follow what you gave me
[01:01:56] But after this, they did the next song I told them so can stop using piano for the melody because I don't want to you know spend all this is during heaven's word when I'm you know, oh yeah, working on midnight every night doing and it's like here's the song and then I spent a whole half day and it's like oh we're not using that by the way.
[01:02:12] It's like that's not going to be used.
[01:02:14] You're like okay.
[01:02:15] So, so yeah.
[01:02:16] A musical genius.
[01:02:17] Quick.
[01:02:18] Musicians are so.
[01:02:20] But we're talking about locusts, right?
[01:02:22] That is great.
[01:02:24] Okay, and I just happened to notice that the file name on this notepad says Bismarck. Oh shit. Um, yeah
[01:02:33] What's Matt look over there?
[01:02:39] We didn't sing anything that's weird no one has taken screen caps
[01:02:46] Oh my god, he's so funny we got all the guide track thing settled here's what a guide track sounds like now
[01:02:53] So play the next tip
[01:03:13] So yeah, that was from not afraid from the Arcadian
[01:03:17] Yeah, I don't think you're I guess your piano problem is solved. You're not gonna the screeches
[01:03:21] I don't think you're gonna mistake for our melody anymore so no so now this is what we get so what I do with this is once I get this
[01:03:28] Instrumental and I know the melody the first thing that I do is I start off by listening to this like a hundred times
[01:03:33] And then once I've burned that melody is rhythm into my soul. I
[01:03:37] Then jot down basically whatever words kind of come to mind sure
[01:03:44] Words come to me and that's things that like fit the cadence of what already exists there
[01:03:51] This is so inspiring to watch! Like, as a person that loves to create music and likes writing lyrics and just likes making music, this is such a very, this is like a very inspiring thing to be here.
[01:04:02] Like, regular speech has like, musical, like a cadence, an accent, and rhythm, and so I like to feel that, and then write down the first thing that comes to my mind to start as my foundation.
[01:04:13] So when I heard that this is kind of what I came up with so oh fanny may frightened of candles
[01:04:21] Light them up night lights by light of day. Yeah, she'll be alright. Fine. The sun gets on
[01:04:30] So yeah, I mean I mean it could have worked print it honestly possibly
[01:04:37] um but yeah but if you look on the right for the lyrics you can kind of see you know what I'm
[01:04:49] doing on that first pass I'm finding like rhyme schemes yeah finding vowels that I want to focus on
[01:04:54] so like so small feet are stuck just my look I lost my cheese on the bus it's like yeah
[01:05:00] Yeah, cheese on the bush!
[01:05:02] Compromise, right from my...
[01:05:04] You're getting those internal rhymes, patterns,
[01:05:08] a line on the ice, a fine four and bison.
[01:05:12] Tonight is the night, a blood moon is rising.
[01:05:15] You can see the foundation there.
[01:05:17] And so in that shell, I'm kind of like setting this
[01:05:19] rhythmic phonetic foundation upon...
[01:05:22] Clothing with duck!
[01:05:23] For me, this is like a really important step.
[01:05:25] I'm certainly not suggesting everyone do this.
[01:05:28] But this is such a smart thing to do.
[01:05:30] I wanted to add a melody rather than coming up with something myself.
[01:05:32] I already have a fixed melody.
[01:05:34] So the thing is I have to follow this melody.
[01:05:36] This is Soken's vision.
[01:05:37] So I try to find English patterns and a feeling that's going to fit that.
[01:05:43] So I don't have to change that melody.
[01:05:44] I'm going to think about lime on the right.
[01:05:45] This helps my brain get ready for certain sounds, certain rhythms.
[01:05:51] So yeah, once I've done that, then we got the instrumental guide.
[01:05:55] Next, we're provided with this lyric concept.
[01:05:56] Oh my god.
[01:05:57] It comes from the scenario team, okay? So back in like 2.0 and 3.0. I never got one of these
[01:06:02] Basically sokins like we're writing a song for
[01:06:06] Alexander Koji write lyrics and I would just write lyrics and not really get permission from anyone
[01:06:11] But
[01:06:13] The scenario team is very much more involved. Um, and I like to think it's not because they don't trust me
[01:06:18] I love back this run board because they don't trust me
[01:06:22] Maybe because they've learned over time how you let Koji go and he's gonna write songs
[01:06:26] things like in Bison and Fanny May and Fanny May.
[01:06:30] Okay.
[01:06:31] Yeah, I'm going to have Club and Wood Dove cheese on the bus in my name song.
[01:06:34] It's usually like Uber detailed word file that you know, contains pictures and lots
[01:06:38] of...
[01:06:39] Nothing right before me.
[01:06:40] It's characters involved, battle mechanics, and the themes that they want us to explore
[01:06:44] in this room.
[01:06:45] It can sometimes even contain sample Japanese lyrics, so like they don't want us to translate
[01:06:50] but necessarily they want these ideas in certain lines of the place.
[01:06:53] Kind of themes.
[01:06:54] Yep.
[01:06:55] Kind of.
[01:06:56] the actual document that the writer in charge of the Arcadian content, Kimura-san, he prepared
[01:07:01] for the Sugar Riot battle theme. And this would become this drawing board. And as you
[01:07:06] can see, basically, this lays the foundation for what I'm supposed to include in the lyrics.
[01:07:12] So things like, you know, the world is a canvas, color is a central theme, Sugar
[01:07:17] Riot is like rebellious, she's imaginative, but she's kind of scatterbrained, nonsensical.
[01:07:23] But there's like rhyme to the reason, like with the word association that's here, like,
[01:07:27] you know, going from red to hot, then deserts are hot, and deserts have cacti.
[01:07:33] And this kind of ended up in that red face, red-handed, painted in hand, she paints the
[01:07:38] town red, blue skies, skies the limit, kind of taking those things where she's, you
[01:07:43] know, moving from one word to the other.
[01:07:45] I made sure that that got in the lyrics as well.
[01:07:49] Yeah.
[01:07:50] Once I have the rhythmical foundation locked down and the lyrical concept fresh in my head,
[01:07:56] the next step is research. Sometimes it just means playing the quest.
[01:08:02] Sometimes it means reading the dialogue or looking at the dev, dying at the trial,
[01:08:05] doing spattles. But a lot of times it will involve research on subjects that I'm not
[01:08:10] familiar with. So for the Arcadian, Deep dives into pro-wrestling. I had to do a lot of
[01:08:16] a lot of research on surfing, which was a lot of fun.
[01:08:18] Yeah.
[01:08:19] And then, of course, there's Sinister, or Vamp Fittalstein.
[01:08:22] Yes!
[01:08:24] Sinister!
[01:08:25] The career writer, again, same Kimura-san.
[01:08:27] He made it crystal clear in his document
[01:08:30] that the theme behind this character was BDSM.
[01:08:34] Yes!
[01:08:35] BDSM!
[01:08:36] I go to the internet to study it out.
[01:08:38] Starty, I have to go to Wikipedia.
[01:08:40] He gets to go to Wikipedia and look up BDSM.
[01:08:43] What the-
[01:08:45] What the-
[01:08:47] This is wrong!
[01:08:49] What the-
[01:08:51] Oh wait, oh dude, hold on, hold on, hold on
[01:08:53] It's a little bit-
[01:08:55] Okay, that's better, that's better
[01:08:57] The end ball was too much information
[01:08:59] Yeah, now- okay
[01:09:01] No one will ever know
[01:09:03] No one will ever know what kind of-
[01:09:05] Yes, uh, sorry
[01:09:07] I'm just thankful that you
[01:09:09] Aged ball!
[01:09:11] That was the first step that was the first step and like it again while I appreciate the detail into which Wikipedia describes the subject
[01:09:18] I could use some of a heads up before going there. Um, you click the link if you don't believe me like check out that page
[01:09:32] Don't I don't do that. I went to that page to check this and I'm gonna get a call from HR
[01:09:39] I swear. Oh my god.
[01:09:42] Ultimately, like again, this is about, I wanted to do something that was provocative.
[01:09:45] What's happening?
[01:09:47] But I also wanted to be respectful.
[01:09:49] I didn't want to come from a place of stereotypes.
[01:09:52] I wanted to do my research.
[01:09:54] I did ample research.
[01:09:56] So much research.
[01:09:58] Well, I'm glad you did so much research on BDS code.
[01:10:01] I'm so glad.
[01:10:03] So ample, very ample.
[01:10:05] Again, like you said, this was one time I would work, you know,
[01:10:08] work you know in the office literally like I had so many judgmental
[01:10:12] scowls by people when people walk by my booth although there's a couple guys
[01:10:15] that are like it's work it's work like it's work Koji it's so much work you
[01:10:23] know we have a guest coming to this panel by the way but yeah and so while
[01:10:30] most of the time we are given a concept document like the one I showed
[01:10:34] before. Other times, like I said, the writer will give us actual sample lines that they'd
[01:10:38] like to see incorporated into the lyrics. And this adds like an additional layer of challenge,
[01:10:43] because now we're bound by another factor beyond just theme and rhythm. We're bound by this line
[01:10:48] that's in Japanese. And this can get really crazy due to how Japanese and English are
[01:10:53] really different languages. And I'm not going to get into the differences,
[01:10:57] because that would be like another like that. Depending on the request, I either end up
[01:11:02] needing way more or a lot less when it comes to like syllables or notes in the melody. So this is
[01:11:09] what I received from Ishikawa-san for the first two lines of the song in the ever cold trailer
[01:11:14] that we dropped yesterday. So the first two lines she sends us this. And so basically like it says
[01:11:20] it translates to I hear a voice and slowly open my eyes. Where am I and how long have I been?
[01:11:27] The problem was Soken's melody was fairly short. So let's play that next clip.
[01:11:32] Listening.
[01:11:43] And that was it.
[01:11:44] There's no way I'm going to get all of that into 12.
[01:11:47] Just get too set to do that.
[01:11:48] I hear a voice slowly open my eyes.
[01:11:50] And so that's not going to work.
[01:11:53] So what I ended up having to do,
[01:11:55] I had to make the decision to focus on the first line.
[01:11:57] And so I took that first line and then the rest of the lines,
[01:12:00] lines I kind of distribute that thing throughout. So this is what ended up being
[01:12:03] a whisper in the night. I open up my eyes, which again covers that first line
[01:12:09] kind of perfectly, but it completely ignores the next line. There's no room
[01:12:12] for it. But again I ended up taking that and putting it somewhere else in the
[01:12:16] song. But on the other hand, later in the song, the opposite happened. So we
[01:12:21] had these two fairly simple lines in the Japanese now had to fit into this.
[01:12:28] So play the next step.
[01:12:34] Oh, that's so pretty.
[01:12:41] Okay.
[01:12:42] So yeah, um, a lot more to fit a lot less in.
[01:12:47] So what I had to do next was take what she had there and then flush it out.
[01:12:52] And so that became this.
[01:12:55] And so out to the horizon, it's all white, became word around us, swallowed in white, locked in
[01:13:00] winter, lost to the eyes. So I'm basically taking that the white and spreading it out into this.
[01:13:06] And then the next line I march on as I'm buried in the snow is storm building, snow falling fast,
[01:13:11] growing deeper, hiding our path. So you're getting that theme, it's just kind of
[01:13:14] been stretched out a little bit to fit the melody. So ultimately it kind of ends up about,
[01:13:20] it ends up being about finding this balance between relaying the intent of the writer
[01:13:25] and then coming up with something that feels natural and Soken's melody also rhyming and
[01:13:30] alliterating and you know it makes sense. It's not fucking so it has to not suck too.
[01:13:35] Yeah that's kind of amazing. So a lot of liberties are taken and sometimes you know
[01:13:41] we have to go off in different directions. I know I love hearing about the thought process
[01:13:45] and everything it's just so. I translate all of this because it's like I've always wanted to
[01:13:49] write music but I feel like I'm so stupid with stuff like this and I feel like I just told
[01:13:54] I don't have confidence in myself for writing and it's really interesting to hear
[01:13:59] everybody's like processes and like how they do it because I really would love
[01:14:04] to try myself one day kind of trying to will my brain into coming up with a
[01:14:09] cool rhyme for orange and nothing I've learned that nothing rhymes with orange
[01:14:16] but the time when I'm doing my best to sneak in clever references or various
[01:14:23] bits and bobs of pop culture because this is an FF God's devil and what is an FF without obscure
[01:14:28] pop culture references nothing yeah of course you know all of the references can't be like
[01:14:37] they have to be 100% relevant so content we can't just have random references to horror
[01:14:42] sorts of nigger movies can we not unless unless um so let me show you some examples of some of
[01:14:48] of the references I've put in songs in the past. I kind of snuck them in, really didn't
[01:14:52] tell anybody. Some people have noticed, other people haven't. I'm glad the dev team never
[01:14:57] noticed because they probably would have said no. They're gonna know now. They're gonna
[01:14:59] know now, but it's too late, songs out there. We'll start with Scream. This is pretty basic
[01:15:04] in Scream. We know that it's fairly well known that a lot of lines take inspiration
[01:15:09] from Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through
[01:15:14] the looking glass. So stuff like this, these lines kind of made it into the game in like
[01:15:20] different forms. I think there's a lot of comments about that when it was released. Yeah, yeah.
[01:15:25] I think people picked up on it pretty quickly, but not just the actual Lewis, Lewis Carroll's
[01:15:31] work, but I also took stuff from other Alice in Wonderland references as well. And it's,
[01:15:35] you know, the old PC game, American McGee's Alice, back in 2000. I actually, yeah, I
[01:15:42] love that game back in the day.
[01:15:44] And so I looked to see if there are any cool lines.
[01:15:46] There was a bunch of cool lines.
[01:15:47] So I tried to reference that as well.
[01:15:50] Um, and then also the short lives, 2006 TV drama, once upon a time in
[01:15:55] Wonderland, I actually pulled from there as well.
[01:15:58] Because again, I wanted to give it that, that sense.
[01:16:00] And so again, taking the stuff kind of rearranging it, fitting it in,
[01:16:05] making it fit into the game.
[01:16:06] And that happens in a lot of songs.
[01:16:08] Um, next up, we have what angel wakes me.
[01:16:12] the Titania theme. For this song I drew a lot from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
[01:16:18] The Fairy Queen Titania plays a big role in that play.
[01:16:21] Philamel with melody, sing in awe, sweet lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, lullaby.
[01:16:35] Yeah, um. That was beautiful. It's free use. Yeah, it's uh, yeah, I'm not gonna get public
[01:16:40] but the main public domain now nice but I think you modified it enough so yeah
[01:16:44] that was that that's like ride the rhythm so this is but you know it's a
[01:16:51] funky piece that takes you back to the heart of the 70s I'm thinking what kind
[01:16:55] of 70s references you can in there and like you know it's disco so you gotta
[01:17:00] get some saying alive John Travolta but also you're fighting the frog so the
[01:17:05] The frog of the 70s, Kermit.
[01:17:09] Kermit the frog!
[01:17:10] You know, you have these lines from the game, but if you look close, like City Breakers.
[01:17:14] I'm a boy, I'm done here!
[01:17:17] Both Alameda-less, thank you for the 100 gifts and so you won!
[01:17:20] Thank you so much, thank you, oh my god!
[01:17:26] So many songs about rainbows, so much time, but thinking about rainbows.
[01:17:31] I tried to get those references along, you know?
[01:17:34] I love that rainbow connection, I love that song.
[01:17:37] Next up, like shadow bringers.
[01:17:39] So this is, everybody knows this one.
[01:17:43] So you know, the one brings shadow, two tone echoes,
[01:17:47] three score, four, so one, two, three, four in there.
[01:17:50] But did you know later in the song
[01:17:52] there's a longer version of this, like this part?
[01:17:57] But if you look closely, I did the same thing here,
[01:18:00] but it went all the way up to eight, so.
[01:18:02] To this riddle
[01:18:04] 3
[01:18:06] 3
[01:18:08] 4
[01:18:10] 5
[01:18:12] 6
[01:18:14] 7
[01:18:16] 8
[01:18:18] Oh my god this genius
[01:18:20] Genius
[01:18:22] Genius
[01:18:24] Like that clever
[01:18:26] I was so proud of this
[01:18:28] Thinking people were like oh my god this is the most brilliant lyric
[01:18:30] No one has noticed not even Jason noticed and he sings it
[01:18:35] How good you are at you know, you're that's amazing
[01:18:42] That was really hard to try to come up with one that rhymed with five, but anyway
[01:18:46] Finally white stone black
[01:18:49] After this song was released. I remember reading online, you know, a ton of people were speculating that like oh the white stone black
[01:18:56] What is the white stone? Oh the white stone is the heart of Sabique
[01:19:00] And they were convinced that the white stone,
[01:19:03] even though the content is completely different,
[01:19:05] they're like, no, the white stone black is the heart of Savique.
[01:19:07] And they listed up the reasons in detail on the interwebs.
[01:19:11] There was pages of pages of people commenting and theorizing.
[01:19:15] And so the thing is, though, when writing it,
[01:19:18] I was kind of merely trying to reference the idiom.
[01:19:20] There's kind of an obscure idiom.
[01:19:22] To mark something with a white stone,
[01:19:24] which means to kind of regard something as fortunate.
[01:19:27] It comes from ancient Rome, where people
[01:19:28] would like marker calendars with some white chalk to mark dates that were
[01:19:32] memorial happy events. So mark something with a white stone it's a it's a good
[01:19:35] good fortune. I don't know that. Yeah, I know. But I took the white stone and then I
[01:19:41] made a white stone black because I wanted to take the good omen to a foul omen, the
[01:19:45] little omen there. That was the intent at the time of writing. But after reading
[01:19:50] this speculative post I was reminded that yes indeed I also meant the heart
[01:19:54] Sabique. Why wouldn't I do that? You are all correct. 100%. Thank you for helping me remember
[01:20:00] that white stone black was the heart of Sabique. It's now canon. Oh my god, look how many people
[01:20:06] are there! See, that's the kind of community kind of give and take, you know. Exactly,
[01:20:12] exactly. Working together. So again, at this point, it's been approximately four to five days
[01:20:19] since I received that guide and I've, the concept and I've probably finished my first
[01:20:23] pass of the lyrics, send them off to approval by scenario and sound teams.
[01:20:26] Yeah, that's four to five days. Yeah, I mean, if I'm lucky, I get a four to five days.
[01:20:31] I mean, that's really good. I think I mentioned before, back on equilibrium,
[01:20:35] the Sophia theme, I remember being given the guide on a Wednesday
[01:20:38] and told, we're going to be recording on Friday. So I literally had like half a day
[01:20:42] to get it done so we could send it to the singer. But most of the time I have about a week,
[01:20:46] maybe two weeks tops to get the lyrics done. And again, it's while doing other stuff as
[01:20:50] That's why I can't really spend the whole day on it.
[01:20:53] If I have any extra time after they're done,
[01:20:55] like I mentioned, once the song has been submitted,
[01:20:57] before recording I'll have about a week to polish.
[01:21:00] And so, yeah, when I'm on the train
[01:21:02] or when I'm at bed, I'll have all these ideas
[01:21:04] and things that I want to change.
[01:21:06] And so this is kind of one of the example.
[01:21:08] This is from Way Back Dragon song lyrics.
[01:21:11] And this is kind of how they evolved over the last week.
[01:21:13] So when I submitted the first time,
[01:21:17] I had something like this here.
[01:21:18] And so I started out with something
[01:21:20] I was kind of using more of an archaic voice,
[01:21:22] very super poetic children of the land
[01:21:25] now for this.
[01:21:26] Oh, I like dragon's arm.
[01:21:27] For empty bliss.
[01:21:29] And then from there, I was thinking, okay,
[01:21:31] maybe we should like tone it down a little bit,
[01:21:33] going something a little bit more simple.
[01:21:36] We wanted to add more repetition for that why question.
[01:21:38] So tell me why scurn faith and see the pastor race.
[01:21:41] Tell me why break faith?
[01:21:43] Why see the pastor race?
[01:21:45] Because again, it's Hedlin kind of pleading to you.
[01:21:47] Why are you doing this?
[01:21:48] So adding that repetition kind of powers it up in that sense.
[01:21:52] And then from there, it was a matter of, okay, I'm going to remove all the archaicness because
[01:21:56] it's hard to sing and it's kind of clunky.
[01:21:57] Let's make it smooth.
[01:21:59] And then also we have at the end where you see we took plunging into the abyss and made
[01:22:04] it to seeking solace in the abyss.
[01:22:06] And this is because when sung, the S sound is a little bit more soft, whereas the plunging
[01:22:11] is a little bit more, it's that plosive sound that's kind of in your face.
[01:22:14] And again, this is a goddess singing, so we wanted it to be softer.
[01:22:17] So making those kind of changes over the last week,
[01:22:19] tweaking it a little bit
[01:22:20] until you get something that feels polished.
[01:22:23] And then from there, we go into recording.
[01:22:28] After lyrics are done, you know,
[01:22:30] the checks are approved, we go into recording.
[01:22:32] And a lot of times, like I said,
[01:22:33] we're recorded in the Square Enix studio in Shinjuku.
[01:22:36] I'll usually attend when I'm there,
[01:22:38] whether I'm singing or not,
[01:22:39] I'll be there just to make sure
[01:22:40] that the lyrics are being...
[01:22:41] Yeah, kind of overseeing, making them...
[01:22:43] Soken is usually there.
[01:22:44] This is an old picture.
[01:22:45] back when Soken was still doing engineering work.
[01:22:48] He now has his minions to do this.
[01:22:50] But this is back in the day.
[01:22:52] His team.
[01:22:52] Yeah, he has his team.
[01:22:53] He has his team that does all this now.
[01:22:55] And then sometimes you will have
[01:22:57] some singers come in for parts and sing.
[01:22:58] But a lot of times, again, we don't have time
[01:23:01] or we don't have the budget.
[01:23:02] Usually we don't have the time to do them.
[01:23:03] And so a lot of the backing vocals will get like.
[01:23:06] But you know what?
[01:23:06] If one of you should mention that, maybe I should.
[01:23:08] Maybe I'm going to be right back, guys.
[01:23:11] I'm going to get ready for something that's
[01:23:14] totally happening. I'll be right back, okay? You guys enjoy the rest of the panel. I'll be right back.
[01:23:21] Loc folks are a blend of voice. Okay, bye. As long as you know, you don't have to see the faces,
[01:23:29] so they're lucky. They're behind the one that you know. So yeah, it's kind of makes me brings
[01:23:34] up a good question. So when you're actually writing the songs, do you know if Salkin is
[01:23:38] going to eventually turn this into a primal song? Like the primals are going to perform this
[01:23:42] or sing this at a concert, because I'm sure it'll be a little bit different depending, right?
[01:23:47] Yeah, I mean, a lot of times we don't know, because again, it comes back to how Soken
[01:23:50] does the songs. He doesn't write them for the primals. He writes them for the game,
[01:23:54] because it's supposed to be about that game experience first. Okay. And then a lot of times
[01:23:57] he'll hear them in the game, and he'll be like, this would be great for the primals. And so
[01:24:01] that decision is usually made after the fact. It's after it's already done, the song's in
[01:24:06] the game. I mean, every now and then there might be one or two songs where it's like,
[01:24:08] okay, we want the primals to do this, and some of the music will be done by the primals as
[01:24:11] well but a lot of times they're made first for the game and then he makes that decision later.
[01:24:16] This is kind of what happened with Ride the Rhythm so that game that song was not
[01:24:20] going to be done by Primal's it was just going to be like this it's not a very Primal Z song
[01:24:24] yeah you think about it it's very older songs yeah but ultimately he heard it in game was like oh
[01:24:29] do we got to do this on stage and it's freaking amazing on stage yeah I wonder if we're
[01:24:33] going to play tonight? I wonder. There's green on those things, right? There is green on those
[01:24:41] light sticks out there. Yes. So yeah. So yeah, so I mean, I guess, you know, regardless of whether
[01:24:52] you know, or not going into it, you guys have had a chance to really kind of work with
[01:24:56] famous and talented people over the years. Indeed. Yes. Indeed. So I've prepared a visual album
[01:25:06] of some of the artists we've featured on Final Fantasy 14 soundtrack. People are really surprised,
[01:25:11] I think. Due to time constraints, I wasn't able to get permission to use official photos.
[01:25:17] Okay. And because our CEO has been keen on incorporating like AI tools into our daily
[01:25:23] work. I decided to create an AI approximation of the famous artists that we've worked with on the
[01:25:30] primals. And I did this too much success. And by much success, I mean no success. So we have Jason
[01:25:38] Charles Miller, Amanda Akin, Kristi Costanza, Sam Carter of the Architects, Susan Calloway,
[01:25:46] Akina, Tom Morello there in the middle. Yes. I wanted to give a special shout out though
[01:25:52] to like Paula Gerholt, Warrior of Lights and one of my fellow translators at Square Enix.
[01:25:57] She has sung on tons of tracks like Beauty's Wicked Wiles, Be My Honey, What Angel Wakes Me.
[01:26:02] She's actually here as a fan. She just wanted to come because she loves her team. You might find
[01:26:08] her somewhere. I also have to mention former college death metal band bass vocalist turned
[01:26:15] localization coordinator Ayumi Morata. She has sung on Oblivion, Equilibrium, and Sinister.
[01:26:22] So again, family affair. Yeah. I mean it's vocalist. It's so it's so crazy because I work with her.
[01:26:29] I worked with her really closely for Fan Fest. We worked to get the the new Meten lines for the
[01:26:34] Dancing Green event. She's just so nice. She's like, yeah, sure. And then she's like screamed.
[01:26:39] It's so awesome to see her perform, too.
[01:26:44] Yes, and again, there's no, nobody's been a diva.
[01:26:48] Nobody's been a diva outside me.
[01:26:50] I mean, I like my green M&Ms and my writer.
[01:26:52] Yeah.
[01:26:53] But I'm surprised that there's been no divas, to be honest.
[01:26:56] Absolutely none.
[01:26:57] I think the weirdest thing to happen, and this isn't,
[01:26:59] I mean, it's not even that weird,
[01:27:00] but Akino, who sang Scream,
[01:27:02] when she came into the studio to sing Scream,
[01:27:05] she came in with her mom?
[01:27:08] who's like, you know, this wonderful woman,
[01:27:12] cute, tiny, like, beautiful, 60-year-old,
[01:27:15] 60-ish something lady.
[01:27:17] And, but then, you know, it's screen.
[01:27:19] So the first thing we do is like,
[01:27:21] so Koji, can you explain the intent
[01:27:24] behind these lines, flanced and flayed?
[01:27:26] How does it feel?
[01:27:27] And a pseudo suicide?
[01:27:29] Don't choke on your pride?
[01:27:30] Now, can you explain this?
[01:27:31] And so I have to explain these lines to you.
[01:27:33] While her mother is kind of sitting there.
[01:27:35] So you're making my daughter a thing about flensing and flaying and so, yeah, it was all
[01:27:42] good, wonderful, beautiful people they understood in the end, but please, anyone that works with
[01:27:48] the primals in the future, don't bring your mom to the studio.
[01:27:50] Yes, could you manage to finish there?
[01:27:54] You're having like, the BDSM song, stuff to mom, just leave them home maybe next time.
[01:28:00] She was really cool.
[01:28:01] I mean, there was no problem at all.
[01:28:02] It was just kind of like, I get there and I'm like, you're the one who's
[01:28:05] Oh my god, she was cool with it.
[01:28:08] But I mean, working with, as you all see,
[01:28:12] these spot on impressions of these different actors
[01:28:17] and singers that you've worked with,
[01:28:18] but is there anyone that you've wanted to work with
[01:28:21] that you haven't had a chance to?
[01:28:24] I don't know.
[01:28:24] The geek in me kind of would freak out
[01:28:26] if I could work with Weird Al.
[01:28:28] And no, contrary to comments on YouTube,
[01:28:32] the latest Arcadian song, The Mirror,
[01:28:33] is not sung by Weird Al.
[01:28:35] Okay. Some people have been like, is that weird out? Oh my God.
[01:28:38] It's not. That's actually Ricardo, one of our localization coordinators,
[01:28:42] doing his best sum 41, blink 182 impression. Yes. Did an excellent job. Yes. That's a lot of fun.
[01:28:49] That song, I listen to that song on repeat when it came out because I was just hitting all the
[01:28:54] all the so good all the feels. Yeah. I'd also like, I would be awesome to work with like
[01:28:59] like Tenacious D and Jack Black, because dude.
[01:29:01] Yeah.
[01:29:02] Right, right?
[01:29:04] But even like Collabs of More, like FF14 adjacent creators
[01:29:07] would be cool.
[01:29:08] I mean, a little while back, I got
[01:29:10] to be on stage with Husky by the Geek
[01:29:11] and Alex from HALA.
[01:29:12] That was fucking amazing.
[01:29:15] It would be really awesome to do something with like,
[01:29:17] I don't know, say, Iron Mouse.
[01:29:19] Yeah.
[01:29:24] It's interesting that you talk about that because, yeah,
[01:29:28] I think we might be able to make that happen.
[01:29:31] If we can summon her to the stage, Koji,
[01:29:35] perhaps you can, as a primal, maybe you could bring her out
[01:29:40] here.
[01:29:41] Oh my god.
[01:29:42] Yeah.
[01:29:44] Can we welcome to the stage Iron Mouse?
[01:29:46] Come on out, Iron Mouse.
[01:29:53] Hello.
[01:29:58] Hey, come on out. Come on out.
[01:30:02] Oh, I'm not on my stomach. Can you see me?
[01:30:06] Oh, I'll go get her. Hold on. You guys stay. Stay here.
[01:30:10] Matt, I'll be right back. Sorry, I forgot how this works.
[01:30:14] Okay, let me...
[01:30:15] Yes, come on, bring it out.
[01:30:16] I'm bringing it. I'm bringing it. Wow, really heavy, actually.
[01:30:19] Oh, I'm sorry. I gave it a little bit of weight. I hope that's okay.
[01:30:23] No, no. All right. Help me walk up to the stage.
[01:30:26] This is the first for me this wheeling this out is extremely stressful.
[01:30:39] I'm very nervous too I hope that's okay.
[01:30:43] Okay hold up hold up hold up I gotta I gotta give Iron Mouth a hug I gotta give Iron Mouth a hug okay okay.
[01:30:51] I'm so glad we could bring you out here and have you join us on the stage.
[01:31:05] No, I'm honored to be here.
[01:31:08] Honestly, this is like a dream come true.
[01:31:10] I'm shaking.
[01:31:11] You have a ton of fans and audiences, a ton of pink.
[01:31:14] There's a ton of people standing already ready for you.
[01:31:17] Aw, that's awesome.
[01:31:19] Well, for those of you who don't know, let's talk a little bit about Iron Mouse.
[01:31:28] Iron Mouse, let's see if we can see a little some stats about Iron Mouse.
[01:31:32] Oh, a stats about me?
[01:31:34] Yes, so a few important notes for those who don't know, you are the demon queen of
[01:31:39] hell, right?
[01:31:40] Yes.
[01:31:41] Yes, true.
[01:31:42] Okay, good.
[01:31:43] And, but ironically, also, the warrior of light.
[01:31:47] Yes.
[01:31:48] They have internet reception in hell. Oh, yeah, of course that you get high speeds speed internet. Yeah, we fix we fix the internet
[01:31:55] Okay, that's good. I'm glad somebody did I mean last thing you want. What about the ping from hell?
[01:32:09] Yeah, I you are a big gamer and as people may not know you are a huge ff4 team player
[01:32:15] and you've been playing for quite a long time.
[01:32:18] Is that right?
[01:32:19] Yes, a long, long time.
[01:32:20] A lot of people are like, Lord, I didn't know you played.
[01:32:23] You know, it was a little bit of a secret of mine,
[01:32:26] but I love Fire and Fantasy 14 so much.
[01:32:30] It's kept me company for many, many days in hell
[01:32:34] while I was lonely.
[01:32:36] Well, that's awesome.
[01:32:37] I think it's kept a lot of us comfort
[01:32:41] and when we're in our own hells, right?
[01:32:44] Yes. But it says here you also like singing. I've heard you like singing.
[01:32:51] Yes. It's my favorite thing to do. Nice. And it also says here that you like rolling 99 on loot.
[01:33:00] Who doesn't? Oh, who doesn't? Good. Good. A little bit of a loot problem. Okay. As long as you admit it,
[01:33:08] That's the first step to solve that problem.
[01:33:12] Yeah, yeah, I know.
[01:33:13] I'm lower.
[01:33:14] But it also says, in capital letters might I ask, that you love spriggins.
[01:33:22] I love spriggins so much.
[01:33:24] They're my favorite little boy.
[01:33:26] Yeah.
[01:33:27] Yeah.
[01:33:28] I'll put this over here as close to you as I can.
[01:33:32] Oh my God, it's so cute.
[01:33:34] We'll send this to you later.
[01:33:37] I'll hold it here for now so it doesn't fall off because otherwise it's just gonna.
[01:33:44] It's just like the rock is just so heavy.
[01:33:48] I know.
[01:33:49] I think it's rock for the best little guy.
[01:33:51] I know.
[01:33:52] I heard that it's like one of your favorite mounts and it's like one of the ones that
[01:33:55] you use the most.
[01:33:56] It's the only one that you use the most.
[01:33:58] It's the only one that you use the most.
[01:34:01] It's the only one that you use the most.
[01:34:04] and it's like one of the ones that you use the most.
[01:34:05] It's the only one that I ever use.
[01:34:07] I never use other than like the Big Fat Chocobold.
[01:34:10] Yes.
[01:34:11] Oh, yeah.
[01:34:12] Oh, yeah.
[01:34:13] Good call.
[01:34:13] Good call.
[01:34:14] OK, we will save this for you.
[01:34:17] Don't worry.
[01:34:17] Thank you.
[01:34:18] We'll get you a new home in hell,
[01:34:20] unfortunately, Little Spriggan.
[01:34:22] And I'm going to.
[01:34:23] But some of your dislikes here, I see mornings.
[01:34:29] Oh, yeah.
[01:34:30] Of course.
[01:34:31] Number one, hated.
[01:34:32] Yeah.
[01:34:33] the worst thing that you could ever have to deal with in hell apparently. Also long queue times.
[01:34:41] Yes, I'm a bit of an impatient person. I try to be patient but it's hard, you know. I'm a go-getter
[01:34:50] to be able to go all the time so waiting is just not my thing. It's not the vibe. No, it's not
[01:34:56] the vibe. So just think next time you're in game if someone's like rushing you along in a
[01:35:01] dungeon. It could be iron mouths because she's got other stuff to do, she's got to go fast.
[01:35:09] And then of course we all dislike I think slow internet, but they fix that in hell.
[01:35:14] Oh yeah, good. Yes we fixed it so it's fine. Okay. So come visit sometime.
[01:35:20] Thank you for the invite. She just told me to go to hell. Yeah. Okay. It's what we've always wanted
[01:35:25] to tell you. So great. Oh, gosh, this is going. Oh, but I want to ask you a few other questions
[01:35:38] about FF 14. I love if you could talk about some of your favorites. You told us your favorite
[01:35:42] now you told us your favorite little guys are the spriggins. But what are some of your
[01:35:46] favorite songs like this song that you're jamming out to when you're playing?
[01:35:50] It's so funny because I just I was just talking to my child about that. I really like back to the drawing board and you guys are talking about it today
[01:35:59] Thank you. That one is so fun
[01:36:01] And it's so cool that we got a chance to see today like literally how the song is created from scratch like you get the references and then coji
[01:36:10] Has a whole tangent about orange and the color orange. Yeah
[01:36:15] Yeah
[01:36:16] But you know, I have a lot of other songs that I really like like sinister
[01:36:22] People weren't crazy when we mentioned sinister
[01:36:25] Sinister like one of my fiends. So thank you for talking about it today. I'm very surprised that you did so much research
[01:36:33] It was nothing I mean, I would do some more research tonight. Oh, I go to bed as well
[01:36:42] I'm gonna move closer to Iron Mouse
[01:36:46] make some room.
[01:36:47] I'll do some research about it too.
[01:36:49] Yay!
[01:36:53] You guys.
[01:36:55] Yeah, I mean,
[01:36:57] we all love Sinister.
[01:36:59] Is there any other songs you want to mention before we...
[01:37:03] Oh, well, I did mention Return to Oblivion, which is such a beautiful song.
[01:37:09] Yes!
[01:37:11] Return to Oblivion. Actually, a coachee,
[01:37:13] I believe you wrote the lyrics for that song.
[01:37:15] I did write the lyrics for it. I do not remember writing the lyrics for it, but I was told that it was neat.
[01:37:21] It was a very busy period of my life back then. It happened sometimes where like Soken would be like
[01:37:28] write a song and I'll just kind of be in the moment and I'll do it and I'll be done and I'll move on to the next thing.
[01:37:33] And yeah, Return to Oblivion is one of those that I do not recall. I may have, there may have been some beers involved.
[01:37:41] I forget I do things all the time too.
[01:37:44] It's good to know.
[01:37:46] You're a good company, you artists.
[01:37:49] Okay, so, Maus, what do you think,
[01:37:52] do you want to ask Koji about his favorite songs?
[01:37:57] Yeah, what about you Koji?
[01:37:59] What are some of your favorite songs?
[01:38:03] Yeah, a lot.
[01:38:05] I think maybe my first would be...
[01:38:10] Oh yeah. This, as people ask, this is my all-time favorite. I mean it's got like cool
[01:38:18] pace of words, genre-wise, it's really close to what a lot of what I listen to privately.
[01:38:24] This kind of music, hardcore, metalcore, that's me, Cesarot. And that, and literally say
[01:38:31] my name, come on man, that's a fucking cool line. I mean I may have been binging
[01:38:37] a little bit of Breaking Bad when I wrote the lyrics, but I mean,
[01:38:40] So amazed, just fear it.
[01:38:43] Oh, God.
[01:38:44] Also, Measure of Our Reach, aka the Garlean Territorial Anthem
[01:38:50] for Giribunny and adjacent city states and whatever.
[01:38:52] I mean, there's something inherently cool about an anthem.
[01:38:56] I mean, they're complex and simple, timely and enduring,
[01:38:58] powerful.
[01:38:59] I mean, there's a reason why, like, everyone gets goosebumps
[01:39:02] and hoots and hollers at sports balls games,
[01:39:04] because anthems are epic and Sokan wrote a freaking epic song there and so it would be awesome someday
[01:39:10] like if they played this at like 70,000 people in front of the football game i mean i'm not sure why
[01:39:15] they do that yeah but i mean get like 70,000 people beyond majestic mountains that would be epic
[01:39:24] that would be epic um and then of course there is
[01:39:27] I like I mean this one simply because it's pure emo I mean come on like monochrome melodies our
[01:39:41] tears are painted in red I mean 16 year old me would like weep black mascara tears if he knew
[01:39:49] that he would grow up to write that you're like holy shit Koji you're the coolest but yeah
[01:39:53] Yeah, seriously though, I think with To The Edge is like one of those songs that like people have come up to me
[01:39:58] and basically told me like, you know, in certain time parts of their lives, you know, they have these hard times
[01:40:03] and they're going through hard times and they played this song and, you know, it helped them get through those hard times
[01:40:08] or, you know, they would play this at their wedding.
[01:40:11] And it's like times like that that like, you know, I'm sitting behind a screen for eight hours a day doing this thinking,
[01:40:16] you know, is my work getting out there are people actually reading this and then to have people say,
[01:40:21] it's changed my life man. I mean that's why we do this and it's so much of an honor to be a part of
[01:40:27] everybody's lives like this and have people here and you know thank you. So yes for those of you
[01:40:34] planning to get married soon might I recommend the Barley and National Anthem to play a druid.
[01:40:41] If I ever get married I will. Oh gosh don't encourage him. I guess you could use it for your
[01:40:47] you're next to eternal bonding to it so what about you Matt what is your what are
[01:40:52] your favorite lyrics and in Final Fantasy 14 do you know what
[01:40:59] those are lyrics they are lyrics
[01:41:06] that's like I literally every time I go to that area I wait until morning comes
[01:41:15] around for it to start playing, I can enjoy it.
[01:41:17] Is there any other song?
[01:41:19] Okay.
[01:41:22] I think one of my favorites actually, and this is for real this time, is the Stormblood
[01:41:29] boss theme.
[01:41:30] So every time you're in a Stormblood, try it out, yes.
[01:41:34] And I think I can sing a little bit of it.
[01:41:40] of blood, blood, blood, talking about that blood, blood is everywhere, why is there so
[01:41:48] much blood, oh my god there's blood.
[01:41:51] Those aren't the lyrics, but okay, I literally, I am not joking, every time I'm in a storm
[01:42:01] blood dungeon and triumph place I sing that in my discord and my friends get really
[01:42:05] upset at me.
[01:42:06] I would imagine.
[01:42:08] OK.
[01:42:10] But yeah.
[01:42:11] But yeah, I mean, otherwise, let's talk about,
[01:42:16] we talked about some of our favorite songs.
[01:42:18] But what about what's like the most difficult song
[01:42:21] that you've worked on?
[01:42:22] OK.
[01:42:23] Well, since you asked.
[01:42:26] Now, I'm not here to pile on smile.
[01:42:31] I like the song a lot.
[01:42:32] I think that not only did Akiniru and the gospel
[01:42:36] that we got to see in the backing vocals,
[01:42:38] they did an amazing job.
[01:42:40] As for its place in Dawn Trail,
[01:42:41] well, I think there's gonna be something different
[01:42:43] for everyone, so yeah, there's no right or wrong answers
[01:42:46] here, but we're talking about the lyrics specifically.
[01:42:48] It was definitely a challenge.
[01:42:50] First off, it's got gospel, Broadway musical,
[01:42:54] it's not a genre I'm overly familiar with.
[01:42:56] I like the metal core.
[01:42:58] Really, I put them...
[01:42:59] And so, yeah, the song has a very,
[01:43:01] the greatest showman vibe to it,
[01:43:03] So I need to do a lot of listening to those types of songs
[01:43:06] to kind of get in that right mindset.
[01:43:09] Next, I'm not really used to writing happy lyrics.
[01:43:12] Everything in 14 is about loss or sadness or being a fan.
[01:43:18] So I had to get in the right mindset for a happy song.
[01:43:20] So like I had to go to one of those cat cafes in Akihabara
[01:43:24] and eat strawberry parfaits with maids while cuddling a taddy.
[01:43:27] Wait, I don't.
[01:43:28] Wait, maids?
[01:43:29] Cat cafes?
[01:43:30] Did you order a maid cafe?
[01:43:32] That's extra.
[01:43:33] I can tell of the cats.
[01:43:35] Then Soken came up with this song that has not one melody and not two melodies.
[01:43:47] They have like three kind of interweaving melodies and they all needed lyrics that kind of worked off of each other but not clashing phonetically or anything.
[01:43:56] So that was very difficult to do as well.
[01:43:58] Also, Soken was incorporating late motifs into his songs.
[01:44:02] Like, he takes bits from his older songs
[01:44:05] and incorporates them into other songs.
[01:44:07] So what I try to do when writing lyrics
[01:44:08] is take lyrics from older songs and incorporate those in.
[01:44:12] So I have to do that as well.
[01:44:13] And then of course, this is all while
[01:44:15] following Ishikawa-san's lyrics.
[01:44:17] And the thing is, this is the ending.
[01:44:19] So she got really involved with like,
[01:44:20] okay, I need to say this and this here
[01:44:23] and this needs to come here.
[01:44:24] So I had all of these asks.
[01:44:26] And it was a lot of work.
[01:44:27] I think this is the one I spent the most time on.
[01:44:29] I think I did two weeks off and on with the lyrics on this.
[01:44:33] And even recording took like three days to record.
[01:44:35] Usually we record in one day, because usually only one part
[01:44:38] will go and record for about five or six hours,
[01:44:41] and it's done.
[01:44:41] But this took like three plus days,
[01:44:43] because there were so many parts
[01:44:44] you had to get all together.
[01:44:46] And so it was painful in that sense.
[01:44:49] But in the end, I still came out with a smile on my face.
[01:44:55] You get it?
[01:44:56] No, I get it.
[01:44:57] It's songs called Smile.
[01:44:59] Yeah.
[01:45:00] You like that?
[01:45:00] Iron Mouse gets it.
[01:45:02] I get it.
[01:45:03] You get it, Matt?
[01:45:04] Smile, because of the.
[01:45:05] Smile.
[01:45:06] Anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway, anyway.
[01:45:09] So, yes.
[01:45:11] OK.
[01:45:11] Smile, man.
[01:45:12] Smile, man.
[01:45:13] I, now, as you probably heard from my rendition of Triumph,
[01:45:20] there's sometimes it's a little difficult to understand
[01:45:25] the lyrics for songs.
[01:45:26] So, you know, it's really helpful when we release the songs and but the song lyrics, but why does it take so long to release the lyrics for songs.
[01:45:37] So, yeah, that's a really good question. I understand immensely that people want to sing along right away.
[01:45:45] And they want to see if they're like lower secrets hidden in the words.
[01:45:49] But a lot of times because how this song has been mixed in game,
[01:45:53] So Ken tends to bury the vocals deep in the mix when he puts it in the game.
[01:45:57] So it's sometimes really hard to hear what's being sung.
[01:46:01] I'm sure a lot of us kind of wonder like why is it so difficult to hear the lyrics?
[01:46:06] Because you know we all love the songs and we want to sing along.
[01:46:10] I mean I'm singing along anyway but even if I don't know the lyrics.
[01:46:14] Yeah, there's just a lot of blood, okay?
[01:46:19] But yeah, why does he kind of bury it, as you say, like down into the song itself?
[01:46:23] So, like, there's actually kind of a message behind this madness.
[01:46:26] I talked to Soken about this because, again, people, a lot of people ask me that.
[01:46:29] I say, why are the lyrics so buried in the mix?
[01:46:31] Can't you make them more prominent?
[01:46:32] I mean, what Soken has said is that, unlike a regular song that you hear on the radio,
[01:46:37] when you hear the music in Final Fantasy XIV in a battle, you end up hearing it
[01:46:42] on loop. And you're hearing it several times in one battle. And
[01:46:47] then if you're doing the battle many times in a day, you're
[01:46:50] hearing it even more. And then if you're, you know, trying to
[01:46:52] grind for your tomestones, you're hearing it many times in a
[01:46:55] week. And so it can get kind of, you know, off putting
[01:47:00] possibly depends on how many times you hear it, how
[01:47:03] successful you are in the race as well. It can lead to bad
[01:47:06] memories and frustration sometimes. And so what Soken
[01:47:09] does is that he doesn't want the lyrics to sound it, he
[01:47:11] He wants the battle to be the main thing you're concentrating on.
[01:47:13] So he lowers the lyrics in the vocal mix so they don't stand out as much.
[01:47:18] And then what he told me is that for the official soundtrack, he'll remix all the songs to
[01:47:23] bring the lyrics back into the forefront in that center channel so that you can hear
[01:47:28] them better.
[01:47:29] So it's actually a different mix in the OST than it is in the game.
[01:47:33] That makes sense.
[01:47:35] That's because of that.
[01:47:37] What can happen is that before we release the official lyrics later, some colorful interpretations
[01:47:45] of the lyrics can happen.
[01:47:48] And so, for example, we have, again, the most famous one that everyone knows.
[01:47:57] Can we play the track?
[01:47:59] Yeah, yeah, that's not what I'm saying.
[01:48:09] Yes it is.
[01:48:10] There is no way you'll ever convince any of us in this room.
[01:48:15] I mean, yeah, I mean, big fat tacos.
[01:48:19] It sounds like something I would write, definitely.
[01:48:22] But that's not what it's...
[01:48:26] I like it. Yeah. I'll keep singing it. Yes. Thank you. That's how I'm saying big fat tacos. It's
[01:48:33] I guess
[01:48:34] Next time we do an orchestral concert. I'll get the choir to sing big fat tacos. Oh my god. That would be so awesome
[01:48:42] No one outside of like the north american community probably would understand what's happening
[01:48:47] I got kind of regretting trying to explain to like a japanese flyer
[01:48:51] I need to say big fat tacos here and they're just like, hi, hi, what are you most up for?
[01:48:58] Okay, how about this one?
[01:49:01] You know what this is from?
[01:49:05] Let's listen. Let's take a listen.
[01:49:51] It'll always be worse to me.
[01:49:54] Now, see, that's the problem.
[01:49:56] Once you read it, that's all you're going to hear.
[01:49:59] So it's like.
[01:50:00] That's true.
[01:50:01] OK.
[01:50:02] What about this next one, ma'am?
[01:50:02] This one's easy.
[01:50:03] This is tiny.
[01:50:08] Glee, thirsty for wool?
[01:50:10] That's it.
[01:50:21] Unfortunately, I do hear it.
[01:50:25] And are you thirsty for wool?
[01:50:28] Yes, I mean, I think a lot of our players are probably thirsty for wool.
[01:50:34] I believe resists me no more. Come on.
[01:50:37] The thing is, this is not my fault.
[01:50:40] This is actually done by our lyricist, Tom, one of the other low-commembers.
[01:50:44] So I can't take credit for this one, but because they're not my lyrics, I don't care.
[01:50:48] care so yes I glee thirsty for wool sorry Tom sorry Tom you've been overrided
[01:50:55] the new canon all right last one
[01:51:02] yeah this one man all right let's listen
[01:51:18] I'm so sorry.
[01:51:28] None of this was correct.
[01:51:40] You're telling me breakfast.
[01:51:41] We got justice.
[01:51:42] We got justice.
[01:51:43] We got justice.
[01:51:44] We got justice.
[01:51:45] Oh, my God.
[01:51:46] You're ruining people's like cannons in their head that you...
[01:51:51] This is it now.
[01:51:52] I actually like this better than my lyrics, so this is good.
[01:51:56] Why didn't I think of this?
[01:51:57] Next time you fight Ultimate Thord and this is what's going to be going through your
[01:52:00] head.
[01:52:01] Right, a little baby.
[01:52:02] Iron Mouse, is there any lyrics that you have misheard?
[01:52:07] Have you thought it was something else until you saw the lyric sheet and thought, oh, it's
[01:52:11] this.
[01:52:12] Oh, oh my God.
[01:52:13] Well, I have to say, I was very surprised about sinister because I heard some things that
[01:52:21] were different and I'm like, whoa.
[01:52:26] The regular lyrics for kind of as well, yeah, they are the regular lyrics hard times, you
[01:52:32] But I was I was very shocked and I was like, oh, so it didn't say that it said this instead. Okay, that makes so much sense
[01:52:42] Well, the thing is this doesn't actually just happen in English as well
[01:52:46] So for example with Titan under the weight ruffle the mozzarella ruffle the mozzarella
[01:52:51] Bowder over-dweller. So yes in English. They're not just this like there's so many different version
[01:52:56] I bet they can ask everyone everyone has a different version. I guarantee you that no one
[01:53:00] But hearing bow down over-dweller in that yes
[01:53:05] But it also is misheard in other languages as well
[01:53:08] So I'll like be in Japan one time I went to the Fan Fest in China
[01:53:11] And they're like oh my god
[01:53:12] Bow down over-dweller is like this in Chinese and I went to Spain and they're like and so it's actually
[01:53:17] Stuff in others as well
[01:53:19] Everyone hears it incorrectly. No one hears it correctly
[01:53:23] dude
[01:53:24] Spanish
[01:53:26] Pon la la va dura, pon la la va dura, hey, macadena.
[01:53:30] OK.
[01:53:31] All right.
[01:53:33] So let's listen and find out how you think.
[01:53:35] So let's play this.
[01:53:38] Pon la la la, pon la la va dura.
[01:53:41] Pon la la la, pon la la la, pon la la la, pon la la la.
[01:53:44] Pon la la mojeta, pon la la mojeta.
[01:53:49] I mean, come on.
[01:53:50] Titan just wants you to bow down.
[01:53:51] I feel like he doesn't want you to do his laundry.
[01:53:53] He doesn't want you to give him a banana.
[01:53:55] just bow down for Titan or Titan.
[01:53:59] I feel like we learned earlier in your presentation,
[01:54:02] you talk about how you have to shorten things to make them fit.
[01:54:05] This seems like this was before that happened and you really just forced it to fit.
[01:54:12] Okay. Anyway, so this brings us back to,
[01:54:19] again, all of this confusion could be
[01:54:21] avoided if we just released the lyrics sooner.
[01:54:24] So why don't we? I asked the dev team this several times, but I've never really gotten
[01:54:30] a straight answer. Every person that asks tells me something different. From what I can glean,
[01:54:34] it's that one, the team is busy. It's usually at the end of the patch cycle, so they're
[01:54:39] really busy and they don't have time to get them ready or whatever, to do the dev blog
[01:54:46] that they go up on. Another one is that sometimes they're like, we'll enjoy it
[01:54:49] when the players speculate and bring up, you know, the weird lyrics because, you know, user engagement, I guess.
[01:54:55] Yeah, that's how we tell our metrics.
[01:54:58] One thing I heard from Yoshi P is like he likes to delay it because there's usually a lot of spoilers in the lyrics.
[01:55:03] So he wants to make sure everyone has a chance to play the content before so that there are no spoilers getting out.
[01:55:09] I mean, yeah, storm of blood, blood, blood, blood.
[01:55:12] Like those are real spoilers. There's going to be blood.
[01:55:14] There will be blood in the expansion called Storm Blood. Yeah.
[01:55:18] it could be that just Ichikawa-san hates me.
[01:55:22] I hope not because I love you Ichikawa-san.
[01:55:25] Please don't hate me. But the thing is it's probably like all of them
[01:55:29] above. Like this is basically a delay. It's more of a feature than above.
[01:55:35] So yeah there's lots of reasons, lots of reasons
[01:55:39] why this happens. So let me get this straight.
[01:55:44] You start off writing nonsense lyrics as you yourself.
[01:55:48] as you saw us not afraid the nonsense lyrics and bison tax fraud or something I don't remember
[01:55:54] so you have you have nonsense lyrics and you spend the last time turning into actual like
[01:55:59] proper lyrics of like you know that it makes sense if it's the game follows but you know writer's
[01:56:04] intention so much meaning yes hind fight hindsight yeah yeah um but by the time but it's finally
[01:56:12] released. It's the kind of everyone hears it as nonsense.
[01:56:18] Yes. Again. Yes. So I guess the question is when we released the proper lyrics, the nonsense
[01:56:25] lyrics have already kind of. So basically you're just saying I should just do the first steps
[01:56:30] and then stop? Yeah. It feels like it sometimes, to be honest. I mean, yeah. But the thing is
[01:56:39] there's one solution and that would just be to get them to release the lyrics earlier right kind
[01:56:44] of like I did on that previous slide that everybody has screencapped um and then we can spread yeah
[01:56:51] so we finally officially released the lyrics for those four orcadian songs so everybody make
[01:56:56] sure you check the vod and uh go back and transcribe them and post them to reddit and so we can get
[01:57:01] new official lyrics videos but upon YouTube ASAP. Yay! But no, but you mentioned Arcadian. Like,
[01:57:10] Arcadian has been so much fun to work. I know, like, Iron Mouse, Arcadian music has been amazing,
[01:57:16] hasn't it? Yeah. I mean, it's been a wonderful process. So I want to talk a little bit before
[01:57:23] we end. I kind of want to talk about the Arcadian series and because it's been such an
[01:57:28] and enjoyment to work on.
[01:57:29] Of all the raids that we've had in all of the expansions
[01:57:32] in 14, it's been the most songs with lyrics so far.
[01:57:38] So of all of the songs, 10 of them, of the 16, 10 of them,
[01:57:42] 10 of the boss songs have had lyrics.
[01:57:44] And of those 10, I got to work on the lyrics
[01:57:47] for six of them with other members of localization
[01:57:50] doing the rest of them.
[01:57:51] And then of course, Caleb Schomo
[01:57:52] for Everything Burns, my God.
[01:57:55] Amazing.
[01:57:55] Woo!
[01:57:56] But yeah, let me talk a little bit about some of the working on the songs from there.
[01:58:01] Sure.
[01:58:02] We'll start with Give It All.
[01:58:03] Here, one of my biggest regrets moments for recording, Christy Pascenza couldn't come
[01:58:10] to Tokyo because she was on tour, I think, in Europe at the time.
[01:58:13] So basically, she recorded from Germany and then sent the files over in between actual
[01:58:19] concert dates.
[01:58:20] She'd go home after a concert, she'd record the lines, and then send them in.
[01:58:24] So I have no visual proof that Kristine Kassanza did them.
[01:58:28] So kind of like the moon landing.
[01:58:29] I can't prove that it happened.
[01:58:31] But we're just going to say that Kristine Kassanza did them.
[01:58:34] Because it was freaking amazing.
[01:58:36] But I sent the lines.
[01:58:39] And then she sent back her first take.
[01:58:40] And I'm like, yeah, this is really great.
[01:58:42] But then I had an epiphany.
[01:58:44] So you have the line here of the music,
[01:58:46] Swallow and Crowd is chanting.
[01:58:47] And for the moment, fear is an afterthought.
[01:58:49] It's gone.
[01:58:50] It's gone.
[01:58:50] Because the fear is gone and all gone.
[01:58:52] And she's ready to go.
[01:58:53] But then I'm like, no, how about if we get it like this,
[01:58:59] that the fear is an afterthought, but it's not.
[01:59:02] It's not, I'm not an afterthought.
[01:59:04] It's like sad.
[01:59:06] It's talking about how, you know, she is,
[01:59:09] she's not gone.
[01:59:10] She's still right here facing her own fears.
[01:59:12] And I thought, this would work so much better.
[01:59:14] It's like, that's so like, yeah.
[01:59:16] Can we get it?
[01:59:17] And she's like, no, it's done.
[01:59:18] Like, oh, no, so.
[01:59:22] And then one time we said had Amanda sing this on stage
[01:59:26] and I'm like, Amanda, can you change that lyric?
[01:59:28] She's like, okay, I can do it for her.
[01:59:29] And she's saying, and then she forgot
[01:59:30] and sang the original verse.
[01:59:31] Aw.
[01:59:32] I don't blame her though.
[01:59:34] It was on me, like telling her like five minutes,
[01:59:36] five minutes before you go on.
[01:59:37] Can you change this line?
[01:59:38] Yeah, I'm familiar with how you ask for changes
[01:59:42] right before you keep going out on stage.
[01:59:44] The regrets, the regrets.
[01:59:46] Next up, yes, the regrets.
[01:59:49] Next up, ride the rhythm.
[01:59:51] So with this, again, like I mentioned before,
[01:59:54] we weren't asked to do the lyrics for the in-game version.
[01:59:57] So actually what you hear in-game is not me,
[02:00:00] it's not Soken.
[02:00:01] It's actually the composer of the song,
[02:00:02] Ima Murasan, was doing random English-like words.
[02:00:06] Basically, I asked him what the words were,
[02:00:07] and he's like, oh, I just went and looked at
[02:00:09] some Daft Punk lyrics, and just copied them.
[02:00:11] Dude!
[02:00:16] But then Soken's like, I said,
[02:00:17] it's like Soken's like, oh, we should play this.
[02:00:19] like then we can't sing those lyrics we actually have to come up with lyrics and so basically we had
[02:00:25] kind of lyrics that were there and people had already heard them we have to come up with actual
[02:00:30] lyrics so now i had to come up with lyrics that kind of sounded like the original ones
[02:00:34] but were not the original ones because actually lyrics had to be really careful and so the
[02:00:39] thing was like okay i'm going to listen to what he's saying and i'm going to try to get something
[02:00:43] as close as possible so i listened to what he was saying and this is what i heard him saying
[02:00:47] It's like pay day down to put pantheon set the bed
[02:00:51] Lay down started up make me go check the bed
[02:00:55] That's I you can hear it listen listen
[02:01:07] That's definitely what I'm saying I literally is that that's that's from a daff cunt song. That's
[02:01:12] It's a dynamic side.
[02:01:15] For legal reasons, that is a joke.
[02:01:17] Yes.
[02:01:18] There are different lyrics now.
[02:01:23] But yeah, then after we did, the rhythm
[02:01:25] is back to the drawing board.
[02:01:27] So I talked a little bit about this in the concept.
[02:01:30] Iron Mouse, thank you for also loving back the drawing.
[02:01:32] It was a fun song to write.
[02:01:35] But it was supposed to be only male lyrics in it.
[02:01:37] So it was only supposed to be me singing it.
[02:01:39] Basically, it was supposed to be sugar riots,
[02:01:42] like one of Sugar Riot's fans was singing the song
[02:01:44] about Sugar Riot herself,
[02:01:46] but I thought it might be cool
[02:01:47] to have like Sugar Riot appear in the song as well.
[02:01:50] At the end, kind of like, you know,
[02:01:51] like Queen Latifah will come out
[02:01:52] and do her little like four bars or whatever and go back.
[02:01:57] So we got female lyrics in right at the end.
[02:01:59] There's that part where you get Sugar Riot comes out,
[02:02:01] girls, what are we made of?
[02:02:03] And she's doing that little part.
[02:02:04] So the problem was when we're doing it on stage,
[02:02:07] we didn't have any female vocalists on stage.
[02:02:09] And I'd been singing the whole time.
[02:02:10] So I thought it might be confusing for people in the audience
[02:02:14] to all of a sudden hear the female vocals
[02:02:15] but see no one on stage singing.
[02:02:17] So I thought it would be good to have visuals
[02:02:20] during the live performance to notify to everyone
[02:02:24] that this is the part where Sugar writes.
[02:02:26] And so I created a sample video
[02:02:29] of what I thought this part should be like, that to play.
[02:02:32] And I was gonna give this to the team
[02:02:34] and say play a video like this.
[02:02:35] And so this is the video that I made
[02:02:37] for them to play during the concert.
[02:02:39] Can you play the video?
[02:02:40] I don't even think that took 10 minutes.
[02:02:42] She was supposed to give me another day, baby.
[02:02:44] You're everything that's just in the name.
[02:02:46] I'll do my thing.
[02:02:48] I'll do my thing.
[02:02:50] I'll do my thing.
[02:02:52] I'll do my thing.
[02:02:54] I'll do my thing.
[02:02:56] Needless to say, it was not approved by the company for use
[02:03:01] in the live performances.
[02:03:03] But I spent all of 10 minutes making that.
[02:03:06] So I wanted to show it here today.
[02:03:08] I don't even think that took 10 minutes to be honest.
[02:03:11] At least, you know, I'm glad that the smile image is out of my head and now that is in my head.
[02:03:17] It'll haunt you for all day.
[02:03:18] That is now my sleep problem.
[02:03:19] Literally, when I asked, you know, the, I prompted co-pilot Coon to, like, you know,
[02:03:25] can you, like, make a Lollafell?
[02:03:27] That's what it came up with.
[02:03:28] So, the power of AI folks knows what a Lollafell looks like.
[02:03:33] Oh, man.
[02:03:35] Next up, we have Not Afraid, yeah, and it was an interesting footnote to this song,
[02:03:44] was that those satanic growl voices. Yeah, Not Afraid, that's the one with the F-bomb in it too.
[02:03:51] Yes, yes, it's character appropriate F-bomb. Okay. It fits the lore, so it is approved,
[02:03:56] and it's got the beep in there for the kids. But yeah, that's-
[02:04:01] You know, you can be a student or whatever.
[02:04:06] They have the growls, or as they say in Japan, death voice.
[02:04:10] That's what they call it, like the growls in the screams, death voice.
[02:04:14] And so the death voice was a lot of fun in that song.
[02:04:18] But it wasn't me.
[02:04:20] What?
[02:04:21] It wasn't you?
[02:04:22] I would imagine it would have been you because you're the guy.
[02:04:26] The death voice, and not afraid, was Yoshi-P.
[02:04:30] What?
[02:04:31] Don't believe me?
[02:04:32] Listen, listen, you can hear.
[02:04:33] Listen, it's okay.
[02:04:34] Check it.
[02:04:35] Why am I suffering?
[02:04:36] Why are you suffering, Yoshi-P?
[02:04:37] You need to take a break.
[02:04:38] Is that really Yoshi-P?
[02:04:39] I don't know.
[02:04:40] You don't have to believe me.
[02:04:42] It's true.
[02:04:43] Okay.
[02:04:44] Why are you suffering, Yoshi-P? You need to take a break.
[02:04:49] Is that really Yoshi-P? I don't know.
[02:04:51] You don't have to believe me. It's true.
[02:04:55] Okay, so why am I suffering?
[02:04:59] I am not.
[02:05:01] I am not. Can we hear your best death voice of why am I suffering?
[02:05:07] What do you think?
[02:05:11] That was spot on.
[02:05:15] I guess if your GP is not available, we have...
[02:05:19] Yeah, follow me.
[02:05:21] Slide in for that death voice.
[02:05:23] The death voice.
[02:05:24] Perfect.
[02:05:25] All right.
[02:05:26] And so moving on to 7-4 next up, we had sinister.
[02:05:31] So again, I don't want to talk too much about it because I don't want to get in trouble
[02:05:34] with HR.
[02:05:35] Thank you.
[02:05:36] But one thing I can talk about is that beginning part at the end, you have that
[02:05:38] epic chorus.
[02:05:39] That course at the beginning isn't just random ooz and oz.
[02:05:42] It's an actual course and there are actually lyrics to that.
[02:05:45] So those lyrics are in Latin because Latin is a lot of kinkier.
[02:05:48] I was thinking, what's the kinkiest language?
[02:05:50] Oh, it's got to be Latin.
[02:05:52] And so we have the lyrics here.
[02:05:54] So like, otherwise, all hail the lady of punishment and torment.
[02:05:59] All hail the lady of pleasure.
[02:06:01] All hail the queen.
[02:06:03] Hail vamp fatal.
[02:06:05] But Latin, so way more sexy.
[02:06:07] Yeah. I really appreciate that you brought the blurred image back. I mean, you know, you can't
[02:06:13] talk about that Fetal without, yes. Okay. And then the final song that I worked on for the
[02:06:20] Arcadian series was The Mirror, of course. So we used those twin vocals, you know, to give it
[02:06:27] that real, some 41 type of feel. And the twin vocals because you have the extremes,
[02:06:32] the surfer dude bros red hot and deep blue and i was going to sing one and then ricardo the other
[02:06:38] localization member was going to sing the other but it was literally not until the day of recording
[02:06:43] we didn't know which part we were going to sing basically the composer wanted to decide it that
[02:06:48] day oh my god and so because he didn't know so there's that rap that's in the middle it's like
[02:06:55] yo deep blue they've been they've been on the so this is basically red hot singing to deep blue
[02:07:00] I knew that I was going to be rapping, but I didn't know which part I was going to sing.
[02:07:05] So I had to write two raps, one that was sung by Red Hot and one that was sung by Deep Blue,
[02:07:10] and then they decided which one they wanted me to sing.
[02:07:13] So because I ended up being Red Hot, this is the one that went in, but there actually
[02:07:17] is a one from Deep Blue singing to Red Hot, and that was this where he's, you know,
[02:07:23] You know, Brett Hough.
[02:07:25] And he's kind of being a dick in these lyrics.
[02:07:28] Um, and, you know, come on, man.
[02:07:33] Bro, you gotta buck up.
[02:07:34] You gotta buck up, man up.
[02:07:36] Whoa.
[02:07:36] Stand up.
[02:07:37] Um, so I like the ones that were chosen,
[02:07:39] but that kind of happened where you end up writing these,
[02:07:42] and I didn't know which one, so we
[02:07:43] had to have the second one.
[02:07:44] Uh, that's kind of cool that we actually,
[02:07:47] now we got to see an unreleased, uh,
[02:07:49] unreleased, those, we didn't even take those lines
[02:07:51] because it's like you can't do it.
[02:07:54] So yeah.
[02:07:54] So I mean, okay, so that was all super interesting
[02:07:58] and I don't know.
[02:08:00] It's just, you know, I'm starting to think
[02:08:04] that maybe this doesn't sound that hard.
[02:08:06] Like you kind of, you know, you go, no offense,
[02:08:09] no offense at all.
[02:08:10] No offense taken.
[02:08:11] Yeah, some taken, but okay.
[02:08:14] I just mean, you know, random references.
[02:08:17] You're at rhymesone.com.
[02:08:18] I never said I was at rhymesone.com.
[02:08:20] And you know, I feel like we could probably do that you think you can do it. Yeah
[02:08:27] You think you could do it?
[02:08:29] Well, let's write some lyrics then man right here right now
[02:08:32] How about we do some crowd participation and write some lyrics right here? I want you to help me write some lyrics
[02:08:40] right now
[02:08:42] right now
[02:08:44] So, from tacos to tenders, tenders, escape fame, we have escape of ticket and tender fame,
[02:08:54] right at the beginning we have this line, a drifting tender, there's the drifting tenders.
[02:08:59] Thank you.
[02:09:00] Tenders come right here as rides.
[02:09:01] So we have this, we have this line, and then later in the song plays the second version
[02:09:05] of it with the ancient echoes, ancient tacos, and then it's played a third time.
[02:09:12] But the third time is just a repeat of the first time.
[02:09:14] So originally, when I got from Soken the melody,
[02:09:17] it only had first time and second time.
[02:09:19] There was no third time, so I only wrote two versions.
[02:09:22] But then Soken's like, I want to make the song longer,
[02:09:24] but I don't want to talk to Koji,
[02:09:26] so I'm just going to copy and paste the first one,
[02:09:28] and then I got copied and pasted.
[02:09:30] Now, if he'd asked me, I'd be like, no, let's do three,
[02:09:33] let's finish the arc, the tender's arc with something,
[02:09:36] and he didn't do that.
[02:09:38] So for the longest time, I've hated the fact
[02:09:40] that this is just copied and pasted.
[02:09:41] I think we need new lyrics here.
[02:09:43] And I want you guys to help me with some new lyrics.
[02:09:46] So we can't do all of these since we don't have much time.
[02:09:49] So I'm thinking that those first four lines, we keep the same.
[02:09:53] But these two lines here, the storm heads
[02:09:56] gather and illusions scatter.
[02:09:58] I want to get ideas from the audience
[02:10:01] to officially make some new lyrics for this part here
[02:10:04] so we can just get rid of the old and make some new.
[02:10:07] So I think we have some people with mics today.
[02:10:10] Yes, we do have some people.
[02:10:11] So what we're going to do is we're going to do each line.
[02:10:14] If anybody has a good idea, raise your hand,
[02:10:18] we'll get somebody to come, get that idea,
[02:10:20] then we'll all vote on it.
[02:10:22] We'll get Iron Mouths to help voting on it as well.
[02:10:24] We'll choose the best line,
[02:10:26] and then we're going to make those the real lyrics.
[02:10:28] But first, but first, if we're going to do this right,
[02:10:31] we have to sit down some ground rules.
[02:10:32] We can't just have some phrases.
[02:10:34] I don't want people going,
[02:10:35] starboard, lord bird,
[02:10:37] come right here, let's ride.
[02:10:39] Comprehension scattered.
[02:10:41] I feel like we just wrote it right now.
[02:10:46] That's quite the bop.
[02:10:48] No.
[02:10:49] The lyrics need to work, like both in a general and omega sense.
[02:10:53] It has to pertain to omega, but also kind of feel like it's natural with what is there.
[02:10:57] Cosmos.
[02:10:58] You know, the cosmos, the sea shanty.
[02:11:00] Like you can see this is a cosmic sea shanty.
[02:11:03] You've got the come right here as ride away with the tide.
[02:11:06] So you have this sea shanty imagery, the sea, the being the sea of stars, the universe, omega being
[02:11:12] the tender, the small boat that goes along with the galley. He's drifting away from where he's
[02:11:17] supposed to be. That type of imagery. So it has to fit that. Good luck. So yeah, again we've
[02:11:24] got the mics there. Let's listen to the guide because that's all you do. Listen to the guide,
[02:11:30] get that in your head, and then we'll start taking. So let's play the clip.
[02:11:36] We're good. All right. Hands up. Let's do this. All right. I see hands. We have a few staff members out there.
[02:12:02] I see the hands. I'm not going to call you got the staff members with the mic. Yeah, so someone walks up to you with a microphone and puts it in front of you, then probably with us, I hope.
[02:12:11] So let's see if I know my teams out there.
[02:12:17] I'll see, I think I have someone perhaps may have.
[02:12:23] Okay, first line transforming matter transforming matter. Okay, that is a good suggestion. I
[02:12:36] like it. I like it. Why do you seem surprised that that I literally thought someone's gonna
[02:12:40] say start. Okay, I have an idea. Starboard. I literally told you not to say something
[02:12:44] transforming matter. That's good. Okay, that's one. Okay, can we get another suggestion?
[02:12:50] I've written this down. Transforming map, I think.
[02:12:53] This is still the first line.
[02:12:55] Okay, we're still getting a few ideas for the first line.
[02:12:57] So, Danielle has a mic somewhere to see of stars of people.
[02:13:09] I hear her in my ear.
[02:13:13] Okay.
[02:13:18] Talk, talk right into the mic.
[02:13:20] Oh, uh, right into the mic, uh, for which one we're still we're still taking some ideas
[02:13:28] for the first first line. Oh, the first line. Casting away. Casting away. Casting away.
[02:13:39] Come right here was right. Okay. Okay. That's good. Okay. Let's get a couple more. And
[02:13:46] the next person with the mic you guys you guys go ahead and say I have someone and then I I have
[02:13:52] some someone I hear you right here okay okay I'm thinking I'm thinking like through stars like
[02:13:59] water come right here rose right force four stars like water through stars through stars like
[02:14:06] water through stars like water oh that's pretty sexy through stars like water okay I have a
[02:14:14] Okay, that's good. All right, next one.
[02:14:17] Okay, I had one. Give me a second.
[02:14:26] All right, Sarah, we chose.
[02:14:28] I was going to say the coils are charged. Like you see the coils on the side of a mega and electrically just going through the whole robot. So.
[02:14:37] Okay, the coils are, but I would do the coils are charged.
[02:14:43] The coils are charged.
[02:14:45] Thank you.
[02:14:45] Thank you for taking charge.
[02:14:47] OK.
[02:14:47] OK.
[02:14:47] The coils are charged.
[02:14:48] And then let's do one more.
[02:14:49] And then we'll vote on the ones that we have.
[02:14:51] OK.
[02:14:52] One more.
[02:14:52] So far flung and battered.
[02:14:56] What is it?
[02:14:58] Far flung and battered.
[02:14:59] Far flung and battered.
[02:15:01] Far flung and battered.
[02:15:02] So far flung, comma, and battered.
[02:15:04] That's actually really cool.
[02:15:06] Far flung and battered.
[02:15:09] OK.
[02:15:09] Far flung.
[02:15:10] I like my chicken tenders.
[02:15:12] Can we squeeze?
[02:15:12] batter the chicken tenders and try them. Okay. Okay. I don't think that's the end batter that
[02:15:18] we're going. No, no, no, no, no. Okay. So let's, before we do the second line, let's vote on the
[02:15:22] first one. So we know what we have to rhyme with for the second line. Okay. Okay. Good idea. Okay.
[02:15:27] So we have transforming matter. Then we have casting away. Then we have through stars like water.
[02:15:37] then we have the coils are charged and what is this for my
[02:15:45] handling so bad for for flung no and for far flung far flung yes far I need to
[02:15:51] write this better far I can't even read it myself but I'm far flung far flung and
[02:15:55] battered okay so I'm gonna go through each one I want you to cheer and we'll
[02:15:59] choose the one with the most cheers okay
[02:16:01] Iron Mouse you cheer too okay we don't know which one you like the best as
[02:16:05] Well, yes, all right. First off transforming matter
[02:16:12] Okay, then next off a casting away
[02:16:17] Okay, okay
[02:16:20] Suggested all right. I appreciate that through stars like water
[02:16:27] Sexy all right the coils are charged
[02:16:30] Okay, okay, I like that one with the chives in it, and then here we go, far flung and battered.
[02:16:40] It's because it fits with the chicken tenders being battered.
[02:16:46] I think I like to think it's also because it's really far flung and battered.
[02:16:50] Okay, far flung and battered is the one.
[02:16:53] And so now we're going to do the second line and we're going to have to rhyme with battered, like shattered, like we have.
[02:16:59] So anything that rhymes with battered, let's do that.
[02:17:02] All right, let's start going.
[02:17:03] We'll do some of these and finish the lyrics.
[02:17:06] Okay.
[02:17:06] This is good.
[02:17:07] We got a good first line.
[02:17:08] Far flung and battered.
[02:17:09] Whoever has the mic to speak up.
[02:17:11] All right.
[02:17:11] I've got one.
[02:17:11] Okay, Sarah.
[02:17:12] Right here.
[02:17:12] Okay.
[02:17:14] All right.
[02:17:15] I was going, the hall is splintered away with the tie,
[02:17:18] but the hall is shattered away with the tie.
[02:17:20] Okay.
[02:17:21] Far flung and battered.
[02:17:23] The hall is shattered.
[02:17:25] That's really good.
[02:17:26] Okay.
[02:17:27] The hall is shattered.
[02:17:29] How about a broken standard?
[02:17:33] Oh, like the fan.
[02:17:36] That like fits with the ship industry.
[02:17:38] The ship's going to have a flag.
[02:17:40] It's going to have its own standard.
[02:17:41] The broken standard.
[02:17:43] Nice.
[02:17:44] A broken standard.
[02:17:45] A broken standard.
[02:17:46] A broken standard.
[02:17:48] I have one.
[02:17:50] Oh, sorry.
[02:17:51] We'll choose it on our side.
[02:17:53] Okay.
[02:17:54] The broken standard.
[02:17:56] Nice.
[02:17:57] Okay.
[02:17:58] I have one it's it's kind of similar to the last one but hero shattered heroes shattered so we have the
[02:18:05] haul is shattered but we also have heroes shattered okay heroes shattered that's nice we have another
[02:18:12] because basically omega's gonna shatter heroes heroes shattered nice okay shattered is a good rhyme
[02:18:19] with him battered I agree okay let's get a couple more it just doesn't matter just doesn't matter
[02:18:25] I think it really flows as well doesn't matter the way with the time okay now and one more
[02:18:37] that's that's four so let's do one more I don't have a mic in front of you I'm sorry
[02:18:44] I'm sorry.
[02:18:45] I got another one.
[02:18:47] Hello.
[02:18:48] Hi.
[02:18:49] The past is sundered.
[02:18:52] The past is a ride of a life.
[02:18:56] Past is sundered away with a tide.
[02:19:01] The last, okay.
[02:19:02] So just so we know, we have to rhyme with the embattered.
[02:19:10] So we all need the one line.
[02:19:11] The past is scattered.
[02:19:12] The past is scattered.
[02:19:13] scattered okay the past is scattered the past is scattered nice okay the past is
[02:19:20] scattered okay so here we go we have our five we're going to choose these I'm
[02:19:25] sorry for those who didn't get to there's a lot of people we already appreciate
[02:19:31] this is like fun we'll definitely do it at the next test as well all right so
[02:19:35] we have the first line again far flung in battered come right here was right
[02:19:41] And then this next line the hall is shattered the broken or a broken standard
[02:19:47] Heroes shattered just doesn't matter and the past is scattered
[02:19:53] So let's vote first off. Awesome. The hall is shattered
[02:20:00] Okay, okay
[02:20:03] Next up a broken standard
[02:20:09] All right
[02:20:11] You got another, oh, that's your favorite iron mask.
[02:20:13] Nice.
[02:20:14] Yeah.
[02:20:15] Oh, that one.
[02:20:15] And then another shattered, but this one,
[02:20:17] instead of being the haul is shattered.
[02:20:19] Now it's heroes shattered.
[02:20:23] OK, OK.
[02:20:24] And then just doesn't matter.
[02:20:28] All right.
[02:20:29] And then finally, the past is scattered.
[02:20:34] I think we have our winner, the broken standard.
[02:20:37] The broken standard.
[02:20:38] Here we go.
[02:20:39] Yeah.
[02:20:39] Here we go.
[02:20:40] We have it all done.
[02:20:41] So a drifting tender come right here as right her galleon scattered away with the tide
[02:20:46] Far flung and battered come right here as ride a broken standard away with the tide
[02:20:53] We have it. This is awesome. So thank you so good. Thank you guys so much. Thank you so much
[02:21:00] If only there was a time we could sing this like if there was a concert something
[02:21:11] If only the finals had a concert in a couple hours in which we could sing it.
[02:21:18] Huh, so what I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna do, I haven't asked Soken yet.
[02:21:23] He's probably gonna get pissed off.
[02:21:25] But I'm gonna go backstage after this and say, we changed the lyrics.
[02:21:29] Can we do it this way during the concert tonight?
[02:21:32] And if I give him some money and he says okay, the money's the important part.
[02:21:37] Then we're gonna do this tonight.
[02:21:38] So what I'm going to try to do is if he gives me the okay tonight at the concert,
[02:21:43] I'm going to be go up there and go like this.
[02:21:46] And I want you all to sing along. I'm going to get it up on the screen.
[02:21:49] Barflung and battered come right here was ride a broken standard away with the
[02:21:54] tide. Let's do this. Let's make it happen.
[02:21:57] We're going to have it happen, right?
[02:22:00] Thank you so much. Thank you so much.
[02:22:04] Right. So tonight, I mean,
[02:22:08] The thing is though, Matt, that concert's like three hours away.
[02:22:12] Yeah, it's far, far away.
[02:22:13] I want music now.
[02:22:14] Oh, yeah, some music now.
[02:22:16] If there is only someone on the stage that was a trained musician
[02:22:21] willing to sing some Final Fantasy 14 songs for us here in Anaheim.
[02:22:28] Gee, I wonder who that is.
[02:22:30] Wait a minute, Iron Mouse, are you saying you'd sing us some songs today?
[02:22:36] You know what, I'm not ready for it so why not?
[02:22:40] Yeah, you're already here, so why not?
[02:22:42] That's a, yeah, that sounds great.
[02:22:44] So it would be my absolute greatest honor
[02:22:46] to be able to sing for you guys today.
[02:22:48] Awesome, yes!
[02:22:51] Okay, I think everyone in the crowd is super hyped.
[02:22:54] So I guess you'll probably need some time to,
[02:22:57] you'll probably need some time to get ready.
[02:23:00] Maybe you need to change, get into a,
[02:23:02] Yeah, just a quick little change and I'll be right back.
[02:23:05] Okay, awesome.
[02:23:06] All right.
[02:23:07] All right, I'm going to have to see you in a little bit.
[02:23:08] In a little bit.
[02:23:09] All right, I'll see you guys in a little bit.
[02:23:11] Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.
[02:23:14] Let's do this.
[02:23:15] Okay.
[02:23:16] Okay, so I think that's it.
[02:23:17] I think we're done.
[02:23:17] I think so.
[02:23:18] I mean, we have convinced her successfully
[02:23:21] that we will get a performance, so that's awesome.
[02:23:25] So while we get over here and let people
[02:23:28] probably get out of the way
[02:23:28] so they can clear the stage.
[02:23:29] Clear the stage.
[02:23:30] You've got this concert coming up.
[02:23:31] Yes.
[02:23:32] And I got to get down there
[02:23:33] because I want to watch.
[02:23:34] I want to watch it too.
[02:23:35] I need to be down there with everybody to watch this.
[02:23:38] I'm going to start.
[02:23:39] I'm going to run down there.
[02:23:42] So everybody, how was the panel?
[02:23:44] It was kind of long, but was it fun?
[02:23:46] Yes.
[02:23:48] I could talk for days about, I think, I noticed,
[02:23:52] before I've worked on more than 70 songs for Final Fantasy XIV.
[02:23:58] So it would be really cool if maybe I could get this book.
[02:24:03] book, maybe like a CD with all 70 songs on it and then like write, get the lyrics, write
[02:24:08] about the stuff about how writing lyrics.
[02:24:11] And then you can give all your insight to like how you did return to Libya.
[02:24:14] If we made a book like that or maybe like a CD like that we had all the songs with lyrics
[02:24:17] and had like the lyrics, would you guys want to?
[02:24:22] Okay.
[02:24:23] So maybe I can convince Yoshiopee to do something.
[02:24:27] That's kind of been my dream for a while.
[02:24:28] And so I'm going to ask Yoshiopee if we can do that.
[02:24:30] I mean, everybody here seems excited.
[02:24:32] Yeah.
[02:24:33] we can do it. The lyrics, you know, their song. Yeah. That would be pretty awesome. Okay.
[02:24:40] That's it. I think you're all good. Yes. You made it through the entire panel. So yeah,
[02:24:48] I made it through the entire panel without doing a single shameless plug. Without doing
[02:24:53] a single shameless plug. Final Fantasy 16 logos. Oh. The lore book that's now on sale
[02:24:59] for $44.99. You can buy it on the e-store or Amazon.com. Anywhere books are sold.
[02:25:06] Everywhere books are sold. Again, I wouldn't want to do that shameless plug at all
[02:25:15] because this is a 14 panel. I'm not going to supposed to talk about 16, but if you have
[02:25:20] an extra $44.99 lying around, it is a wonderful book. It is a great book. Yes, thank you.
[02:25:27] I was excited to read it. So thank you. We'll give you this time give this time, but we do have iron mouse
[02:25:34] Yes, I'm gonna get off the stage and I'm gonna come down there. Yeah, I'm gonna all watch
[02:25:40] Yes super hyped, let's go. Let's do this see you guys. I'll be down there with you
[02:25:57] Oh, my God.
[02:26:04] Wow!
[02:26:06] This is...
[02:26:08] Oh my God!
[02:26:15] Wow, this is...
[02:26:19] I can't believe I'm here, and I can't believe I'm doing this.
[02:26:30] This is an absolute dream come true.
[02:26:33] Oh no, no, no!
[02:26:34] I'm I am Biles, your friend Stephen Queen,
[02:26:37] and a fellow Kino Fantasy 14 enjoyer.
[02:26:40] I picked out some of my most favorite tracks
[02:26:42] with square units to bring you a very, very special performance
[02:26:45] today from my favorite place, the Cool Spouser!
[02:26:50] Yay!
[02:26:52] Looking cool, huh?
[02:26:54] Oh, my God, I'm so excited!
[02:26:56] Okay, I'm ready, and I'm gonna give it my all.
[02:27:01] Okay, okay, okay, okay.
[02:27:02] I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready.
[02:27:03] Woo!
[02:27:05] Woo!
[02:27:08] Woo!
[02:27:33] Tonight our city bleeds like blue and green
[02:27:40] As I walk in the dark, gone sea
[02:27:46] It's like the grey the star is shaking
[02:27:50] The colors in my heart are faded, gone
[02:27:54] They're gone, they're gone, all gone
[02:28:03] The girl looks to the skies and tears to dream
[02:28:10] On the world she made the boy kissy
[02:28:16] She had told me my fear was there in that
[02:28:20] I realized the girl is gone
[02:28:24] She's gone, she's gone, I'm gone
[02:28:33] Come there, pray not, and lead it to the top
[02:28:38] I have it all, so I pray
[02:28:41] Pray that tomorrow falls alright
[02:28:44] And when the price you high
[02:28:46] Cluck the stick in the scalp
[02:28:48] And now, tonight, I'm out of time
[02:28:51] But it looks like I'm in my life
[02:28:54] For your loss, then I will lie
[02:28:57] Of course, they may not go back
[02:29:00] You're going back, you're going back
[02:29:04] No one likes you like you inside
[02:29:07] Cause of the case, that's why it takes me slow
[02:29:10] No one's allowed to touch inside
[02:29:13] I turn around, I turn and leave the inside
[02:29:16] You can try, you can try, I try but I lose you
[02:29:19] But you're going back, you're going back
[02:29:23] Forever, you're never gonna get no
[02:29:26] You're going back, you're going back
[02:29:29] I'm so coming back from the edge
[02:29:31] Looking my eyes and I know you understand
[02:29:35] I'm here to be seen
[02:29:37] In my mind, I'm a rainbow falling down
[02:29:41] Losing your blood
[02:29:43] I can't beat up my mind
[02:29:44] I want to rest in that thing
[02:29:46] Ready to battle
[02:29:47] To this one must stand
[02:29:49] Day to night
[02:29:50] Lighting a stride
[02:29:51] Then you will fall
[02:29:53] And you're gonna get it all
[02:29:55] To me
[02:29:56] To me
[02:30:58] I look up to the crowd and there are a seed
[02:31:08] A thousand little girls on me
[02:31:14] I turn the tables, yeah, I'm fighting back
[02:31:19] I'll win the mic and now it's on
[02:31:22] It's on, it's on, you're gone
[02:31:27] I've been renowned and made it to the top I had it all before so I thought I'd trade it tomorrow for a life
[02:31:42] And down the price you hide The clock is ticking down tonight
[02:31:48] I'm out of time, no need for stop
[02:31:51] I've been out of my life before you smiled
[02:31:54] There's light all night, I'll pass
[02:31:56] You make them going back, they're going back
[02:32:00] They won't go back, no more in sight
[02:32:03] Let you inside, also for kids
[02:32:06] If that's what it takes to grow
[02:32:08] And those who want to touch me inside
[02:32:11] Turn on that memory, they'll die
[02:32:14] You can try, you can try, you can try
[02:33:46] Please, I'm Sinister, I'm in your skin
[02:33:51] And through these cylinders, Sinister, don't you know I am?
[02:33:56] I'll make it better, cause I'm young, I'm a raster, you'll make a fire
[02:34:02] But I love the moon, I do all your solace
[02:34:05] Watching your favor, I'll have it all
[02:34:10] I'm gonna take what I want, I'm gonna take what I want
[02:34:15] Don't let me down
[02:34:17] Or I'll chain you up and stare you out
[02:34:20] And I won't ever surrender
[02:34:22] And my voice will be tender
[02:34:25] Now watch me go
[02:34:27] And clear the door
[02:34:35] Oh, I'm hard going solid, ain't no limits here
[02:34:37] Think for all consensual, I thought I made it clear
[02:34:40] But you're not fighting my tongue, what you got in mind
[02:34:42] A little more, I'll give you more, cause what you're just mine
[02:34:44] Watchers in my drones, in the zone tonight
[02:34:46] Who won't test me on the beam?
[02:34:48] With the itch to scratch, you don't mess with me
[02:34:50] Look at them squeal, under my heels
[02:34:52] Swarms I twist and tearing, I don't hear no safe word
[02:34:56] Put down that magazine
[02:35:01] All eyes on me
[02:35:05] I'm sinister, under your skin
[02:35:08] In leasing leather
[02:35:10] Sinister, don't you know I am?
[02:35:13] I'll make it better
[02:35:15] Come from your sister's sofa
[02:35:17] Your savior at your ruin
[02:35:19] I'm your legend
[02:35:20] You make your freedom fortune
[02:35:22] Your favor right and at all
[02:35:25] I am your own
[02:35:28] Here on my own
[02:35:30] I'm taught this terrible throne
[02:35:33] I mature the stars
[02:35:35] Why are they all so far?
[02:35:38] Until I climb
[02:35:40] And leave what's up behind
[02:35:42] Behind, suddenly a bye
[02:35:45] What a boy, what a boy, what a boy, what a boy
[02:35:48] What a boy that you got
[02:37:12] You can't take it, I'm not ever waiting
[02:37:15] To hold me far away
[02:37:20] On the plane, baby
[02:37:22] You want you to believe
[02:37:24] On the plane, baby
[02:37:26] On the plane
[02:37:28] You'll never be a rush
[02:37:30] You'll never be a rush
[02:37:33] On the plane, baby
[02:37:35] On the plane, baby
[02:37:37] You'll never be a rush
[02:37:41] The song belongs for a lady and a lady
[02:37:50] Falling to the floor for the fear to embrace me
[02:37:54] A voice from the past screaming
[02:37:56] There is no end, no a say to my fate
[02:37:59] Ever do not repeat this again and again and again
[02:38:05] Falling to the floor for the go-over
[02:38:08] Take me, a voice from the past that goes out like a drum
[02:38:12] And no more goodbyes, no high heart is still making
[02:38:16] Now open my eyes one more time
[02:39:38] You'll not hear me in flight
[02:39:41] Clear as diamonds, give a chance
[02:39:44] Voice, my heart is racing
[02:39:49] Turn the light on, when learning
[02:39:51] Once you turn the light on
[02:39:54] Turn the light on

[02:55:01] Oh my God, being able to be there
[02:55:03] and the fact that I was able to be on the panel

[02:55:17] You truly deserve it.
[02:55:19] Thank you.
[02:55:20] Thank you so much.
[02:55:22] Thank you.
[02:55:24] Thank you.
[02:55:25] Return.
[02:55:26] To Oblivion is a song that means so, so much to me.
[02:55:28] One of my all-time favorites, and your performance of it was phenomenal.
[02:55:32] I'm so sad.
[02:55:33] Thank you, Mouse.
[02:55:34] You did incredible.
[02:55:35] That was another thing I was worried about. I was worried, you know, I know these are songs that people love and I just want to make sure that I get them right and...
[02:55:45] I love you, Iron Man. A lot of people in the FFX4 chat want your glamour. You are amazing.
[02:55:51] Really?
[02:55:52] And I even have a friend there in person sending me pictures of you on stage. I love my cameo-shi and, give it all, is one of my favourite FFX5V songs.
[02:56:00] You're making me cry because you're crying and I'm such an emotional valari.
[02:56:04] Aw, I'm giving you a hug. I'm giving you a hug. Oh, I would love to call a flow. That
[02:56:10] song is just so gorgeous. I had so many other songs. I wanted to do Dragon Song. I wanted to do
[02:56:16] Flow. I wanted to do, uh, of course, Honey. I wanted to do so many other songs, but you know,
[02:56:26] I had to be a little... HANIA! You know, I had to choose. I wish I could have done them all,
[02:56:33] but I had to pick and choose and there's just so many songs that was just so great so great so amazing
[02:56:41] so incredibly amazing
[02:56:48] thank you mouse you've had a rough few days but you singing always puts a massive smile on my face
[02:56:53] so thank you you will always be my super kemioshi with your super cute baby hands we all love you
[02:56:59] so much mouse disgust and being a stuffed door like
[02:57:15] cyyu joker side it's a wild ride watching you climb past the peak of Everest and past the

[02:57:51] I'm so happy that you guys liked it, I'm just beyond happy, because to me...
[02:57:57] You starting with, Give It All was so big for me.
[02:58:00] That was my first savage tear, and in turn, the song holds a massive place in my heart.
[02:58:04] We love all the hard work you put in for us Iron Mouse Love.
[02:58:08] It's so crazy, because even Koji mentioned it in the panel, these songs when they're
[02:58:12] made, the way that they make the songs, it puts more of an emphasis on the instrumental
[02:58:20] than like the lyrics and stuff like that
[02:58:22] so that because you're listening to them in-game a lot
[02:58:26] over and over again.
[02:58:27] But it's like a subliminal thing.
[02:58:29] The lyrics stay with you like subliminally
[02:58:32] and it evokes a feeling every time you hear the songs.
[02:58:35] So it's like, man, I was just like, man,
[02:58:39] I really hope I could convey the same feelings
[02:58:41] that these songs convey when you hear them in the game,
[02:58:45] but just a little bit of a different way.
[02:58:47] Um, I really hope that you guys liked it and I you know I was I was very like I wanted everybody to like them
[02:58:57] But the most important at the end of the day you guys are most important
[02:59:01] And I just wanted to make you guys proud and and make you guys happy. So I'm really happy
[02:59:07] That you guys liked it. So thank you very much
[02:59:17] And I can't believe Koji hugged me.
[02:59:20] I wish I could have hugged him back.
[02:59:26] Happy Sources of Tour Day, Mousy.

[02:59:49] Thank you so much.
[02:59:50] I promise you guys there's so much more stuff coming, you're not even gonna believe half
[02:59:56] of the stuff that's coming.
[02:59:58] You're not even gonna believe-
[03:00:00] Iron Mouse, a group of friends and I, a mix of FX-ed fans and your fans, were popping
[03:00:05] off in Discord call when you were singing.
[03:00:07] You did such an amazing job, and it even brought my buddy to tears.
