worked on for 10 years, Destiny.
Things have never been worse for Destiny 2 and a recent, the lake of buying a Marathon
pill off makes it hard to figure out how exactly Bungie could pull out of a nosedive
and get any reasonable amount of players interested in the game from here, new or returning.

We've been hitting all-time player count lows for a while now, and it was shocking just
a few weeks ago when it dropped below 20,000 current players on Steam.
Now this past week, it hit 7,000.
Yes, that's a peak.
well below 10% of what we saw with the launch of the edge of fate, which was the third of
the final shape the previous year.
So we're talking a 98% player loss since not even two years ago.
We are a week past when Desi2's next major update was supposed to launch Shadow in
Order, which was then delayed three months to make it bigger, which shouldn't mean
the next actual expansion is six months away.
We already saw a 30% player drop between the first and the second post-finorship
expansions, despite the second one, renegades being much better.
And I was so unfortunate.
Renegades is, in my opinion, really solid.
So if we're hitting seven to 10,000 peaks now, where are we going to be in another
six months?
Well, look, the reason why we're hitting this now, guys, is let's just be
honest, there's not much to do in Destiny.
Even if you weren't playing marathon, what would you be doing in Destiny?
Not, the game lives off of the content that Bungie is constantly putting in, and there's
nothing happening in the game.
But then on the other side of things, the replayability factor of Destiny for years was actually
being carried by the PvP crowd.
People would still jump in, play, control, mess around and comp, play troughs.
But now they have marathon.
They're not, I'm going to be honest.
I don't know how many of those guys are going to come back to destiny.
They got marathon now, which is honestly everything they wanted in the PVP game from a loot aspect
all the way down.
Now there are three main options here.
Bungie and Sony keeps sinking X dollars and resources to the destiny too, but it's hard
to believe the budget and manpower will not decrease if they do that.
The new top 10 plug is pulled and destiny goes into maintenance mode with at least
some additions but no more big projects like expansions. It stopped entirely in
all resources devoted to making Destiny 3, which is essentially the only thing to
get players to potentially care about Destiny again. But that would be four
to five years away at least since production on such a thing hasn't even
started. There is a fourth option, no more budget, though that may depend
largely on marathon success or failure. Can we just get to this? I cannot
I cannot stress just how big of a game this would be.
If done right, but I'm talking about from a hype standpoint, I cannot stress just how
many people would give Destiny 3 a go.

limiting what you can even do with destiny.

And even as destiny superfan, it's very hard to be even a little optimistic about the current
lay of the land.
And another three months before we even get whatever this new mildly improved update
is going to be, that it's not going to move the needle.
I don't know what can at this point.
